Mrs. Vet Callen Dies At Age 89
Mary Margaret Coulson eldest daughter of Luther and Elizabeth Coulson, born September 29, 1862 near Moravia, died May 29, 1952 at 89. She married I B Callen on August 29, 1886, lived on a Moravia farm, and had four daughters Mintia Shoe maker Centerville, Lillian, Sylvia, and Elsie. Survived by husband, four daughters, sister Mrs I McManus, brother C L Coulson, and other relatives. Funeral May 31 at Moravia Methodist Church, interment Hillcrest Cemetery. hymns “The Haven of Rest,” “The Light of Home,” and “Beyond the Sunset” sung. Rev Martin Greer officiated. Mrs Martin Greer at organ.

Wayne Wolf Shines as Albia Teams Win Doubleheader
Moravia’s Wayne Wolf fired a brilliant one hit outing for the Albia Legion at Ottumwa Memorial Day then pitched a four hitter for the Albia Merchants at Hartford. He struck out 14 against CIO and 13 at Hartford while adding two hits. Boyd Paxston and Bill Broshar helped both wins. Broshar hit a three base hit for the Legion. Paxston collected two hits and two runs in the Merchants victory.

A Monday night tornado damaged Udell homes and barns with no injuries reported. Neath the Néal Brinegar, Frank Bennett, and Wm Garden properties, roofs and windows were destroyed, livestock killed, and trees and power lines toppled. Moravia also saw storms with rain and hail.

James Main Receives Music Degree at Central College
James Main earned a Bachelor of Arts in music at Central College in Pella, with commencement at 10 a.m. Monday June 2. Attending were Mr and Mrs Forrest Main, Carol and Jerry, Mrs D. Donald West Thrown By Horse Fractures Arm
Donald West nine year old son of Mr and Mrs Ernest West of south of town suffered a fractured left arm about five o clock Tuesday afternoon when the pony shyed in the field and threw him. The bones were set and he was rushed to Centerville for treatment and brought back home that evening.
