In Moravia the week centers on dogs and a stray suggestion to declare a dog day. A farmer shot at marauding dogs after delinquent youths damaged cattle and killed a young calf, prompting strong reactions over handling of pets and violence.

The Taylorette 4-H club held a rally day in Centerville with a bake sale planned for next Saturday. Talks covered portfolios, furniture arrangements, and cleaning methods. Sandra Hiatt sought county office but did not win. Shirley Walter spoke for her campaign. Ann Miholovich reviewed the club’s year. Tea followed and refreshments were served by Madge Lee and her mother.
The Shanghai club met on May 18 with Dorothy Calhoun for a cooperative dinner and quilting work. Attendees included Doris and Elaine Christy, Doris N. and Barbara Christy, Amy Hiner, Hazel and Bert Rinehart, Esther and Richard Perry, Hazel Hellyer, Delbert and Dorothy Richard, Karl L. Calhoun, Bertha Overturf, Iceal Josephine Scott. The next meeting is set with Doris N. Christy on May 31.
Mrs. Nellie Thompson arrived home after two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Kelsey and family in Hampton. A surprise celebration marked the silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Kelsey on May 7 with a three tier cake, program, and games.
