Enon Verlan Selby worked with John Selby Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Ethel VanDorin and son Leo visited in Moravia last Wednesday. Mrs Etna Smith and Mrs Darla Giltner with son Billy shopped in Albia Wednesday afternoon. Mrs A O VanDorin spent Saturday at the J I Jones home. George Cloved called at the E G Hawk home Saturday. Keith Roberts has been shearing sheep in the neighborhood this week. Mr and Mrs Dick Faber and sons visited Sunday at the parental A G Faber home. Mr and Mrs Cy Jones and Mr and Mrs Bayard Neff and son were Sunday afternoon visitors at the John Fisher home. The Helping Hand will meet with Mrs Ethel VanDorin Thursday after Hon Mildred Roberts spent Sunday afternoon with Clelia Jones. Mr and Mrs Wm Giltner and son were cutters in Albian Sunday afternoon. Norman Firkina has been spending a few days with Hiatt Selby.
Velma Whicker and Vera Kaster were Centerville callers Tuesday morning. Lucille and Florence Burns visited the George Hoyer home Wednesday afternoon. Mary Boyer stayed at the Pearl Boyer home from Wednesday to Sunday. Vera Kaster and Opal Gough attended teachers examinations at Moravia Thursday afternoon. Mrs Ira Boyer and Earl were Centerville callers Friday afternoon. Sylvia Boyer and Leon Burns couple spent Friday at the Obe Burns home. Mrs George Boyer and others visited the J W Whicker home Friday afternoon.
Florence Burns stayed to help with housework after visiting at the J W Bayer home. Burns family and neighbors visited various households including the Ben Cox place near Allerton to meet a new boy born May 7. Attendees included McDanel and Weatherly families, Burns relatives, and others with several Sunday visits across Moravia area.
Omega deff Taylor and daughter Zula of Moravia visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ward. Laverne Huber spent part of last week with grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Lockman. Elmer Henderson and Luette Ballengar and others visited Otis Ballengar and Clint Paxston homes. G. E. McCumber and H. S. McCumber families hosted, with Barbara and Jim McCumber at Gomer Stocker home. Gomer Stocker visited relatives in Woodward Iowa. Milo Selby family spent Sunday with the McCumbers.

Roscoe G C Wales seeks Appancose county Sheriff in Democratic primary. Hugh G Guernsey runs for Appanoogs County Attorney in June 6 primary.

Candidates seek the Republican nomination for positions including board of supervisors, state senator, treasurer, clerk of court, county attorney, recorder, sheriff, clerk of the district court, county auditor, and other county posts, all subject to the will of Republican voters at the June 6 primary.

Franklin farmers busy with plowing and planting corn. Mr. and Mrs. John Repp and other couples from Albie and Albia made visits over the weekend. Pauline McGee, Wes Scott, F. Stansberry, G. H. Runnella, Pleas Repp, Coy Swift and families, and Edna Mary Stansberry were among those calling or visiting in Albin and nearby homes.
Pleas ant Hill residents and guests frequent a string of Sunday and Friday calls. Clyde and Truxtun Dicks with families visited Roy Scott and Mrs Perry Carter’s niece Opal Fenton. Ed Miller, Hattie Hammond, Rosa Murphy and others stopped by Elbert Moore, Frank Chadwick, and Chas Turbel homes.
Mrs C S Miller called on Mrs Lillard Friday afternoon. Mark Gapps spent Thursday night at the John Campbell home in Mora. Mr and Mrs J J Smith, Mrs Wu, Gilter and son were business callers in Albia Saturday. Mrs Maurice Lillard and daughter shopped in Albia Friday. Mr and Mrs Ethel Roberts and Mrs Jennie VanCleave of Albia were Sunday afternoon callers at W B Boardman and O S Miller homes. Mr and Mrs Wm Giltner attended the funeral of Miss Dorothy Dotts in Albia Sunday. Boardman and daughters, and W F Boardman and wife visited in Ottumwa Sunday. Mr and Mrs C S Miller and grandsons Kenneth and Otis Stafford attended commencement exercises in Moravia Wednesday night. Mark Capps and Carl Coop spent the weekend in Ottumwa. Gallers in Albia Saturday night include Maurice Lillard and family, Mrs M E Boardman, Clifton and Eva, Glade Hatfield, and Dale Smith. Leo Stafford is working near Chillicothe Iowa.
