The Homemakers club met at Jim Walker’s home.
Mrs Earl Swift and Jim Long attend eighth grade assembly at Albia Middle School where Jeff Long graduates. Harry Derby suffers eye injury while repairing a steeple, rushed to Ottumwa and Iowa City for surgery. Lloyd Ammons family attends Albia high school commencement. Carl Martin escorts Mrs Larry Derby to University Hospital. Glen Ammons family visits the Ammons home. Johnson Van Welden visited Roscoe on Sunday.
The Missionary Society of Chariton River Baptist Church held Guest Day on Tuesday afternoon May 12. Fifty guests and local members attended with slides from Rev. Thresh on South America. Guests traveled from Plano Iconium Confidence Seymour Promise City Melrose and Moravia as the group shared scripture prayers poems and songs.
The regular meeting of the Inde pendent Pioneers was held at the Brushy Community building on May 13. Marvin Martin called the meeting to order at 8:00. Jimmy Sulser led the pledge to the American flag. Roll call was Name a tree. Margueritte Martin moved to adjourn. Kathy Martin and Bradley Mitchell led the 4 H pledge.
Argos and Wilsons spent Sunday at Earl Swifts while Pearl Runnells and Mack and Hiatt family members called at Delbert Calhouns Saturday. Derby and Derby kin visited Larry Derby at his home and hospital. Calhouns and Perry households hosted and visited multiple relatives through the weekend in Iowa City and nearby towns. Dorothy Calhoun and Stella Argo called on Robert Jennings. Calhouns visited Kenneth and Donald Calhoun midweek.
Mrs. Burdett Cox hosted Helen Herman's birthday dinner with Bob Herman and Daniel. Neighbors and relatives, including Nyle, Kenneth Wright, and Dale Cox, joined for a cooperative supper at the Unionville Baptist parsonage and visits to local homes over the weekend and Monday.
Saturday evening the Unionville Baptist church hosted a youth banquet with attendees including Mrs. Burdett Cox Mrs. Dale Cox Maria Mrs. Lester Strunk and Joan. Earlier Tuesday evening a Mother-Daughter tea was held at the Baptist church with the same gathering of names noted.
