Local officials press for a Moravia sewer project after five years of requests while funds from government agencies remain unavailable for over a year. Community leaders emphasize growth, health, and the need for continued dialogue with agencies before new meetings.
Nancy Kelley spent last Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Burdette Ward and Janie. Families from Burdette Ward, Oliver Wright, and Troy Lockman joined the Commencement on Wednesday. Mrs. Burdette Ward and Janie visited Nancy Kelley earlier, and Joe Ward of Cedar Rapids stopped by. Burdette Ward entered Monroe County Hospital for tests and x rays Sunday evening. Mrs. Nina Faber and Mrs. Vina Taylor attended a bridal shower for Donna Rae Oard at Salem Methodist church. Barbara Coltrain attended a shower for Linda Hiatt and several others shared meals and attended baccalaureate services in Bloomfield.
At the Monroe 4-H club meeting hosted by Brenda Johnson on May 5, senior winner Jean Ann Rouse, intermediate Marilyn Shelquist, and junior Brenda Johnson were announced. Nine members attended with three leaders and four visitors. talks covered foods for appearance, skin and hair care, and dress tips.
Gladys Harsh reports a flurry of social visits across New Hope with the Ballangers Free Harshs and Kaling families hosting and attending gatherings. Several weddings birthdays and a chicken pox illness are noted amid Sunday and Saturday meetups in Coatsville Mount Ayr and Albia with multiple local residents named.
A brief social item notes a Wednesday evening gathering hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Turner, detailing a casual visit and cordial social engagement.
Mrs Earl Swift reports on social visits in Franklin with Mr and Mrs Hugh McFatridge at Roscoe Argos and Mr and Mrs Charles Fletcher also calling there. Dorothy Calhoun Stella Argo and Freda Swift attend Guest Fellowship day at Salem United Methodist Moravia. Eastlick family hosts dinner at Bill Liggett home.
Mr and Mrs Sam Eastlick and Mrs Lizzie Voss spent Wednesday at Richard Eastlicks. Larry Derby returned home Tuesday after eye surgery in Iowa City last week. Donald Calhoun visited Delbert Calhouns Monday. Mrs Lloyd Ammons Mrs Glen Ammons and Angie attended the Mother Daughter banquet at the Christian church in Albia Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs Wm Cater and family of Des Moines visited the Lloyd Ammons home Sunday afternoon.
