A report on Mother’s Day weekend visits highlights Mrs. Lora Hiatt, former Linda Johnson, and her husband Lora Hiatt of Washington Iowa. She recalls the Iowa City campus unrest and Kent State students arriving to stir dissension. Grace Circuit lists sermon on The Church Pentecost and You with church school 10 am and service 11 am. District council meeting at First U M Ottumwa at 2 06 pm Sunday with 8 pm baccalaureate. no UMYF this week. Wesley Chapel notes 9 am school, 10 am worship, 2 pm Ottumwa district meeting, 8 pm baccalaureate, no UMYF at Grace. Fairview Church has 9 am worship, 10 am church school, 2 pm Ottumwa district meeting, 6 pm baccalaureate.
Rev E J Strong leads Church of the Nazarene. Sunday school at 11 00 and worship at 11 00. No evening service due to baccalaureate at the school gym. Wednesday prayer meeting at 7 45 followed by church board meeting.
Social notes from Vosburg recount visits and gatherings. Des Moines visitors Deanna Russell and child ren stayed at Clayton Sheldon’s, while families such as Whiteheads Browns and Elliots hosted meals and trips. Garden club activities with Sibyl Whitehead included a Pella Tulip Festival and a Rathbun Dam work day.
Gladys Harsh reports a weekend of social visits and family gatherings in New Hope. Numerous households including Free, Ealing, Donovan, Ballanger, Harsh, Marsh, Wilson, Stewart and others shared meals, services, and trips to Centerville Pella Muscatine Centerville Russell Mount Ayr Polo Missouri.
Mr and Mrs Steve Burger Rod ney and Kelly Mr and Mrs Vern Brooks and Mr and Mrs Newell Roth were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Ross Starke. Mr and Mrs Dale Cox and Kevin were Wednesday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Burdett Cox. In the afternoon they called at the Margaret Scott home east of Unionville. Mr and Mrs Jimmie Logan came Thursday evening to the Burdett Cox and Paul Cridlebaugh homes for a long weekend. They returned to Moline Sunday evening. Glen Ammons and Angie, plus afternoon callers Wayne Allen Karen Terry and family, Bill Barnes and Julie, Pat Knowles Homer Stewart, attended baccalaureate services in Albia Sunday evening. Del bert Calhoun hosted Tuesday dinner with Kenneth Calhoun Donald Calhoun and Greg Crall.
In Appanoose County Iowa the district court admitted the will of William Woodward deceased to probate on April 30 1970 with hearing held November 11 1952. Marion N Woodward was appointed executor and creditors are notified to present claims as required by law.
Notice declares that actions to set aside the will must be filed in the district court within one year from the second publication. Creditors are asked to pay debts to the executor Marion N. Woodward and file claims with the clerk within six months from the second publication. Dated April 30, 1970, with TM Goodwin as attorney.
