The Hiattsville column notes 68 in Sunday School, visits by Des Moines guests the Roses and other families, farm work like soybeans, and trips to Chicago for livestock. A May Mother's Day program with a Weslay service features songs and a tribute to motherhood by Rev Behrens.
Franklin J cy and Mrs Gay Stephens and children visited Monday at the John Moffatt home. Several from this vicinity attended the Vosburgh school reunion at the Jess Derby home Friday. The Willing Workers club met with Mrs Gertrude Shehan. May 23 meeting set with Mrs Addie Sheldon. Various callers included E F Stansberry Roscoe Argo at Albia and visits to the Dodge, Mettatt, Runella and Weaver homes.
Sunday visits and Saturday gatherings appear across local households. Mrs W N Miller and Mrs W N Creech host and hostesses entertain friends, while folks including Genevieve Dudley celebrate events at the Dudley home.
Mr and Mrs Wilbur Miller and others attended Mrs Caroline Hart birthday on Sunday at the Wood home. Several Unionville residents visited Mrs Ieel Koehler this week and Mary Paris spent Saturday with J D Cross. A cooperative dinner followed by Aid at Millerschurch was held with attendees including Lloyd Ranson. A welcome rain Saturday was noted as greatly needed.
Unionville residents greet Robert W. Col flesh en route to Centerville with a Des Moines Centerville party. A Memorial Day type schedule includes a fine Mother’s Day program at the M E church with a male quartet and soloists. Various locals travel, attend funerals, and return from distant towns. school closes May 11 and commencement is planned with Rev. Frank Wilder speaking.
Mr and Mrs Ernest Hiatt and Virginia visited Jim Cling Sunday evening while Mr and Mrs Then Miller and Francis joined at the Hilton home. The J R Callen family attended Farmer School’s last day on Saturday with a cooperative noon dinner and afternoon program. Ednine Giilen will spend vacation at home and teach at Farmer next year. Hilton and Walter families visited at Bill Reeves home on Main Starts. Audrey and Maurice Walter attended a Rathbun play Wednesday evening. Mrs Theo Miller and guests honored Mrs Caris who moves to Albia at noon. Mr and Mrs Mearl Walter and family spent Thursday evening at the Callen home. Margaret Evelyn Hiatt Josephine Scott Avdin Glee and Edrie Callenpent Monday evening at the Mearl Walter home.
The club gathered Thursday afternoon with eighteen ladies and twelve children quilted on the Flower Garden quilt. Mrs Geo Jones, Mrs Bayard Neff, and Bernard visited. they plan to meet again with Mrs Ern.
Centerville residents J. L. Jones and family visited friends in Albia after hosting Clella Jones and Kenneth Free. J. T. Van Dorin and family shared meals with Russell Findman, Clara Selby, and Floyd McFall near Georgetown. Memorial services planned at Eslinger cemetery on Sunday afternoon June 8.
The Ottumwa area social scene appears active with numerous visits to Ed Johnson and Zell Wilson homes. Des Moines residents Arthur Lewin and Billy Spencer of Hilton joined various gatherings while Eph Wilson and Edna Dyphon hosted relatives. Small-town stopoffs include Albia visitors Katrena Sytania and Mrs. Grant Sincox family.
Mia, Stella Argo and Mrs. Marie Van Weekien are spending a few days at the parental Henry Sytsma home, likely visiting relatives and enjoying time together at the family residence.
John Ullem and Jess Smith were business tallers in Albia Wednesday afternoon. Ruth Long visited Moravia high acheot Friday. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Ullem called att Fiana Turner's Wednesday morning. Jess Smith and family were Center ville callers Thursday morning. Mrs. Jess Smith and sons were visiting relatives north of Albin Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Win Kaster called at Ceil Parcel's Sunday evening. Mrs. James Long and daughter Ruth were in Albin Monday afternoon. Mrs. Carl Black was a visitor. In Moultan Wednesday.
