Water rates may rise in Moravia to cover costs

Moravia councilmen studied water finances and found last year’s operating costs at 3,066.96 with bonds and salaries pushing costs above income from sales. Proposed rates started at 4 dollars for 4 000 gallons and varied by blocks but the town still loses money on many users. The council also trimmed a trucked water rate from 4 to 2 dollars per 1 000 gallons and will decide on a final adjustment after further review. Cemeteries will be mowed by Miller and Carter Inc. for 2 200 dollars. Town finances show a rising balance of 15 954.92 with no red.
