F H A Banquet Cinderella Ball Featured Fashion Show

The annual F H A Banquet on Friday April 28 drew over 150 guests with a Cinderella Ball theme. Tables featured miniature princess dolls and silver slippers. Highlights included a style show, performances by the girls sextet and soloists, guest Venezuelan students, and awards for Joyann Vincent Linda Gardner Rosemary Phillips and Disney Elneade. Annual County Fair Planned for August

Doyle Hampton announces the county fair dates for August with focus on 4H and FFA exhibits. Open class entries for crops fruits vegetables canning textiles and flowers. The event runs August 2 to 5 with livestock judging ongoing and a rodeo on August 4 and 5.

Clean Up Day Set for Moravia Monday

Moravia declares an annual clean up day for Monday. Residents must place cans and rubbish in non returnable containers along street edges in clear view. The town truck will collect and haul waste to the town dump, with no brush or ashes accepted.

Demonstration Plots At Moravia High School Ground

A joint agricultural demonstration will be conducted at Moravia High School grounds with Monroe and Appanoose counties sharing duties. Resources come from Extension Services, Moravia vocational agriculture, Moravia Farm Service, Centerville’s Agriculture Service Company, Funk Bros corn, and more. Plots show varied corn rates, fertilization, weed control and a novelty “eye-arresting” feature with diverse corn types. Markers will track development along Highway 60 east of Moravia, with tours planned and fall yield data collected for analysis.

Mrs Cecil Coulson Sindergarten teacher organized for Mrs Inez Campbell high school librarian to be honored at the April Council of Teachers meeting in Cincinnati. Rev Richardson to New Charge

Word from the District Superintendent confirms Rev. F A Richardson, pastor of the local E U B church, will be transferred. He has served three years. Conference activities at Cedar Falls this week will decide his successor, with Richardson and Wendell Murdy attending as local delegates.

Moravia Garden Club April Meeting Highlights

The Moravia Garden Club met at Mrs. Howard Smith home with Mrs. F E Wheeler as hostess. Mrs. Gerald Morgan presided as president and Mrs. Warren DuVall led the plant sale plans for April 29 at the Legion home. The club will landscape the high school grounds with aid from members Zell Callen John Veach B F White head Dan Mihalovich Larry Dayton and FFA boys plus John Laws caretaker. An article Birds Our Important Friends was read and discussed. May baskets were prepared and distributed to shut ins. Jonquils were arranged by Mrs. DuVall. Twenty members attended refreshments by the hostesses. An executive meeting preceded the regular session.

Appanoose Methodist Meet and Youth Rally Planned

The Appanoose Methodist Group will hold a Ministry Council gathering at Jerome Methodist Church Friday at 7:30 pm with the theme Christian Stewardship and a showing of The Lord's Acre. Rev Weldon Whitenack reports on the National Convocation on Christian Social Concerns in Washington. A West Central Sub-District Youth Fellowship rally and officer installation are set for Molton Methodist Church Sunday at 2:30 pm with registration, group singing, and a 25 cent fee. Officers to be installed include Susan Smart, Jerry Roblenz, Janet Harrington, Ted Redding, Danny Moulton, Janie Wade, Nancy Tomlin, and Barbara Robinson.

Visitation Week At Moravia Elementary School

Visitation week at Moravia elementary featured kindergarten through fifth grade students leaving regular classes for ten minute visits with teachers to improve parent student teacher relations. Over 75 percent of parents attended, with some grades at full participation. Kindergarten pre-registration day followed with 27 visiting families and expected 36 to 40 entrants next fall. Instructors are Mrs. Otha Lee Martin and Mrs. Marjorie Coulson, with S.C.A. volunteers assisting.
