The civil family notes describe a busy period of visits and gatherings in Center Ville and nearby homes. Mr and Mrs Theo Miller host and visit friends while several households including the Mericles Dowds and Luses share dinners and Sunday calls.
Verda Argo spent Thursday afternoon at the Will Kelsey home and called on Laura Dicks. Mr and Mrs Dorman Irwin and family visited Sunday afternoon and evening at George Hammond s. Relatives and family of Clinton were visiting relatives in Albia Sunday.
Mrs James Kaster and Mrs W G Kaster and Mrs Olin Foster attended a junior class mothers meeting at the high school Monday to plan the banquet menu. A daughter named Alicia Heth was born to Mr and Mrs Ivan Moffitt on Tuesday March 7. Lester Cochrans and W C Kasters bought baby chicks last week. Twyla Hoffman went to the doctor Wednesday for ear and nose infection. Mrs Olin Foster attended a Stanley party at the home of Mia Allie Boyer and Lola. Wanda Cochran Veril Easter and Rex Foster joined a skating party at Albia Friday evening. Mr and Mrs Robert McCann of Cheyenne Wyoming were breakfast guests at Glen Foster’s Sunday and visited Henry Foster and the Whites.
The Fri day Fairies 4-H club met at Norma Hiatt s home on Thursday with Carolyn Boyer leading a session on building a wardrobe and colors. Hiatt spoke on adjusting patterns to fit measurements and the group voted to donate 5 for statewide 4-H camp. Attendees included Phyllis Stewart Betty Lou Stewart Judy Boyer Carolyn Boyer Hiatt Mrs Linnia Stewart leader and Mrs Earl Boyer assistant leader.
Mrs. Homer King remains ill with Mrs. Pearl Fisher by her side. Aunt Ida Henderson of Cherokee OK, aged 84, showed some improvement as of March 11. Local residents, including Mear Walter, Bud Walter, Arthur Johnson, Charles Bettis, and Leo VanDorin with Linda, visited several homes Thursday night. Red Cross drive received 100 percent district response. Burdell Roberts stayed with the Guy Roberts family. J T. visited the Gilfillan clinic in Bloomfield. Multiple calls and visits occurred among Van Dorin, Walter, and Gardner families with Ottumwa outings.
Friday evening with Mr and Mrs Lester Cochran and family. Dwight and Junior Meriele spent Sunday afternoon with Rex Foster. Lester Cochran and family visited Virail Easter and family Sunday evening. Olin Foster took Robert McCann to see Harry Woodward who was in camp with him during World War I. Glen Fowler visited Sunday afternoon with his father Alva Fowler at Udell.
A white Farmall C tractor with red wheels and gold stars tours the community to demonstrate Farmall features and farm performance. Veach Implement, the local International Harvester dealer, highlights fingertip Farmall touch controls, universal quick attach mounting, and a ready supply of tractors for farmer use. Sylvan Van Dorin is named Farmall Man and will oversee operations.
Mrs Ernest Hiatt of Hiattsville reports visits by Larry Hiatt to grandparents Mr and Mrs Gus Hiatt and by Mr and Mrs Bob Cudworth to the Ken Hiatt home. Gus Hiatt hosted Carl Hiatt and the Ken Hiatt group, with U S Hiatt home gathering Thursday. Marjorie McIlwain and Judy returned from Extra In where her mother is seriously ill. Roy Dooley and Virgil Dooley spent Sunday with each other. Lawrence Daniels spent Wednesday with Mona Luther. Mary Meadows and Mrs Ernest Hiatt attended Taylor Aids at Virginia Pettibone's Wednesday. Allen Dooley spent Monday with Edward Kayworth. Lester Dooley has been absent.
