The exposition reports expenditures of 4.3 million dollars and record December exhibit sales. Water, sewage, roads, and electric facilities show progress with high completion percentages. Paid admissions from June 1 to December 31 reach 641,507 as the Century of Progress opens June 1 at 10 a.m.
The Exposition management reports 80 percent exhibit space sold and more contracts than in any December since June. Nine million dollars invested by business leaders, bonds sold at par, and construction advancing to plan. By year’s end the Status of A Century of Progress shows extensive exhibit buildings, ground plans, and contracts totaling millions with space allocated to industry and concessions.
Enon Mr and Mrs George Shaw and son of Decatur Town are living with Mike Bokrus while Shaw aids Maurice Lillard on Clarkson farm. Many neighbors host visits and dinners. several families move in or relocate, including George Shaw, Geo Cloyed, Fred Van Dorin, and Fred Rabinson.
Mrs. Sarah Hanes of Unionville was a Wednesday visitor with her sister Mrs. Fannie Wood. Mrs. Mary Jones was a business caller at the Floyd Wood home Thursday. Mrs. Icel Koehler and son David Earl spent Monday with her father F. E. Boyer. Robert Coltrain and daughter Rosa Blumer of Ottumwa were Wednesday visitors at Ray Coltrain.

Tadlock family visit parental John Tadlock. Strunk trio visit D L Strunk. Albertson family move from Raney farm to 8 farm in Salem. Garner family moves to vacated Albertson farm. Stevens family moves to Joe Simon farm Libarty area. Art Glen family moves to Sam Blumer farm near Miller church. Stanford Doud relocates Koehler farm to Sam Kingery farm. Donahue family moves to J Hicks farm near Unionville.
Franklin Derby sawed wood for Fred Ammons on Wednesday while Mrs Pauline McGee of near Melrose called at Everett Stewart’s home Tuesday. Ray Chidester of Albia spent Friday evening at the John Moffatt home. Les Derby has worked for Coy Swift. Willing Workers club met with Mrs John Moffatt Tuesday for quilting and piecing. Ralph Runnells helped with wood sawing. Coy Swift and daughters visited Mrs Swift and Freda. Earl Swift attended a telephone meeting. Lowell Turner and daughter visited in Albia Friday. Coy Swift and Les Derby called at John Moffatt’s Monday. Art Ekwell and Leona Runnells visited Coy Swift Sunday. George Shehan and children visited the John Moffatt home Sunday evening.
Pleasant Hill residents and families are listed visiting and moving between homes. Ed Miller relocates to Leonard Hensley Place. Clarence Teater moves to Jess Elgin place. Howard Fenton family and others visit due in part to exchanges of homes and Sunday gatherings at multiple local homes across Pleasant Hill and Udell.
Mrs Grace Luse reports final month activities at rural school with Valentines Day events, a fall and injuries, visits from Mrs Ballenger and Mrs Orville Burton, improvements in geography and physiology projects, and plans for a closing program and dinner on April 14. Students earn high marks in county exams and braces for spelling contests while teachers and patrons anticipate year end.
Unionville Route 3 residents and neighbors trade, visit, and help with tasks across Centerville and nearby towns. Ed Rumley and son Harry, Mae Rumley, Emma Ray, Russell Fowler, Conor Sanders, and others frequent homes, timber work, and social visits with ice cream and cake noted on several days last week.

Henry Sytama family traveled home from Albia. Beech Manore visited Albia. Mrs Henry Manore to return to Foster from Albia. Carl Gondy family of Ottumwa visited Sarah Hosdley home. Darby family hosted. Dorothea and Donald Darby with Lucille Coltrain attended Sunday school and Miller church service. Foster Sunday school organized. officers named. Elmora school hosted mothers tea party. Mrs G R Darby and Mrs Zell Wileson guests from the valley. Colds and flu receding. Grandpa Darby improving though rheumatism lingers.

A Unionville country home hosted a March 4 celebration for the 26th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. C L Alden and Mr Alden's birthday. Guests included the Millers, Underwoods, and other local families. refreshments were served and church activities followed on March 6 with a series of messages. Nearby events include Unionville Legion officers new member joining and local residents' weekend visits and farm moves.
Ed Johnson home hosts Brompton visitors Eli DeTar and others. Des Moines worker Ed Johnson’s guest list includes Elwood Stafford’s return, Merit Ann Lillard visiting La Roy grandparents, and multiple calls from Blakesburg and Le Roy families. The Helping Hand club plans a meeting, and several residents travel to Belknap, Hedrick, or new farms.
