Sunday visitors at the D F Hiner home included Mrs John Mc Aninch and many others while Will Kelsay attended the funeral of Mrs Mary Knapp at Walnut City. Families Argo Lemnster and Beaty joined picnics and visits on the river and at Harve Beaty’s home.
Misses Rosie and Josephine Murphy visited the Dicks sisters with a long list of callers including Priebe, McAninch, Penfield and Beaty families. Clover Leaf Club met for quilting and discussed an ice cream supper. Birthdays, visits to nearby towns, and a church bug note fill the week with many local visits and a death notice for Cy Jones.
Hiaptsville community notes list visits by Miss Eirene Phillips of Lincoln to relatives, gatherings at the Coulson McDanel Weatherly and Hiatt families, and calls on neighbors. J L Jones’s death prompted sympathy as Bayard Neff stayed with parental Jones family. Des Moines trips, Palo Alto visitors, and corrections about Cleo Vittetoe’s high school alma mater are included.
The Willing Workers club met with Mrs Nellie Turner on Wednesday for a quilting session with good attendance. Various locals were seen visiting or calling at neighbors homes including Lon Springer and family in Council Bluffs, Charley Johnson, John Moffatt and Roy Moffatt, Lucille Swift, Dwight Runnells, Algie and Les Derby, and the Stansberry and Dodge households.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyndon McDanel welcomed a son Clell Eugene on Tuesday July 20. Mrs. Kate Broshar cares for mother and baby. Relatives and neighbors visited, helped with hay and wheat, and shared greetings at the Lyndon McDanel home during the week.
The individual moved to Sigourney, attended Sigourney High School, and likely completed college studies. She has now taken the role of deputy county treasurer.

Louise Walden Mary Sufficool Ione Faye McDanel Iion. Reymond Veach and family Gua Olson Canterville visit G G Veach home. Ryman McDanel Sr Pauline Townsend Willie McDanel visit Thursday. Wanda Main stays at Kenneth Gladfelder home. Birthday party hosted by Clyde Gladfelder Willie McDanel Lyndon McDanel Shirley Townsend Ed Whicker Earl Whicker Glen Sufficool Ora Sufficool Harold Boyer with tea cream and cake. Otis Whicker Guss Tisue and family visit Bert McKern. Kenneth Gladfelder and family and Wanda Main visit Jess Gladfelder for Robert Charl en fifth birthday. Paul Boyer Geo Boyer visit Sunday Lloyd Duff Clyde Gladfelder Friday evening.
OMEGA notes Miss Lucile Coltrain returned home Sunday morning after attending A Century of Progress and reports a fine time. Russell Smith of Ottumwa visited Burdette Ward on Sunday. Rev Frank Smith and wife of Ottumwa dined with J R Lockman and called at Gomer Stocker and L Ward homes. Mrs Ezra Coltrain and Lucile visited Sunday afternoon with Geo McCumber. The Ballengars, Otis Ballenger and Luetta Ballenger, stayed with Elmer Henderson Saturday night and Sunday. McCumber visited Billy Carter Saturday night and Sunday. Homer Kings visited Sunday evening.
Sunday afternoon visits included the Albert Tabaugh family at L Ward’s and Dorothea Darby with Lucile Coltrain. Mr and Mrs Versal Robb and son called at Ray Lockman’s as Fairy Stocker stays with grandmother in Mora. The community mourns Gy Jones who died Monday afternoon. sympathy extended to the family.
Mr and Mrs J R Callen and family visited after Sunday School with Mr and Mrs I S Callen and family. Theo Miller and Francis spent Sunday with Dr and Mrs Oreulo in Moravia. R E Luse and Betty were Centerville callers Saturday afternoon. Neva Garnet Merkcle and Mildred Doggett called at Roy Wright home in Moulton Friday. Carl Callen returned home with them and went to Marshalltown Saturday. Dale Callen spent several days with grandparents I C Callen and Clarence Miller. Mrs Alfred Carleon and Eva Rose attended Sunday School in Moravia.
An ice cream supper delighted attendees at the school house last Thursday evening with abundant ice cream and cake. J. T. VanDorin family visited Albia, Harold Smith of Waterloo stayed with his parents, and Effin Gideon authored a Sunday School song sung by local youth. J J Jones fell ill Saturday evening and died Monday afternoon, leaving many to mourn his loss known by the nickname Cy.
