Moravia townman Josiah Lunn Jones dies at 56

Josiah Lunn Jones, born near Salem Iowa November 22, 1876, died June 28, 1939, at his Moravia area home. He married Daisy Jeane King February 10, 1908, later wed Flora Wailes, and fathered several children and stepchildren. Funeral services were held June 28 at the Moravia Methodist church, conducted by Rev. J. C. Behgens.

Martin Slavin Wedding Unites Ruth Martin and Dr Hale Slavin

The ceremony took place at the Martin home in Nevada Iowa on June 20 at six oclock in the afternoon. Ruth Martin daughter of Mrs Elma Martin and Dr Hale B Slavin son of Dr and Mrs C T Slavin united in marriage with a single ring ceremony conducted by Rev J O Simon. The bride wore a net gown and the couple departed for a honeymoon to the lakes. The Slavins plan to reside in Las Vegas Nevada where Dr Slavin will practice with the Union Pacific Railway Co.

Mayor and Family Complete 2800 Mile Vacation Auto Trip

Mayor Wi Gardner his wife and son returned Sunday from a vacation motor trip that carried them from Moravia to Chicago for the World's Fair and on to Washington D C. They visited the national capitol the natural bridge in Virginia and the Endless Caverns. The Gardners covered 2800 miles and report no tire trouble.

Interurban Cars End Last Runs Through Moravia

Interurban passenger service from Centerville through Moravia to Albia ends with the last car none aboard and no crowd. Freight service continues by Iowa Southern Utilities while bus routes may replace mail and passenger links. E. L. Friday Dinner Menu Highlights Local Social Gathering

A cooperative dinner at Dr. C. T. Slavin's home Saturday evening celebrated Dr. and Mrs. Hale Slavin. Attending were Dr. D. K. Orelup and son Don, Lementine Tucker, Mrs. Stella Reich, Dorothy and Charles Ruich, Dr. John Potter, and Joyce Nelson. The menu featured chicken and dressing, new potatoes, gravy, green beans, slaw, cottage cheese, ice cream, cake, coffee, and jelly.

Moravia July Fourth Celebration Attracts Large Crowd

Ideal weather drew several thousand to Moravia for Independence Day festivities. A noon crowd filled roads into town with vehicles, wagons, and horses. The day featured a band concert, a flag drill, readings, a ball game win for Moravia, races, acts by Dixon Novelty Revue, and a finale by the Dirty Seven. The Auto Kid Ride entertained visitors from midday onward.
