The Moravia Union informs readers it is published weekly every Thursday by H. K. and W. T. Smith. Subscription rates are listed as one year in advance, with terms for six, three, and six month periods. Entered as second class mail matter at Moravia, Appanoosa County, Iowa, under the act of Congress of March 8, 1879.

R C Hart and daughter Sylvia Hiatt visited Mrs Sarah Hanea in Unionville Monday. Robert Coltrain visiting his daughter Rosa Blumer in Ottumwa. Emma Tadlock has been sick. School dismissed Friday due to teacher’s husband Arthur Miller’s illness. Mr and Mrs William Simmons visited Todd Garner’s home Monday. Quiller and C A Adams visited Ray Coltrain Sunday. Mrs James Wood ill with flu. Inez Miller stayed Saturday night with Wilbur Miller.
Mr and Mrs Theo Miller and Francia hosted dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Frank Chambers Sunday. Dorothy Riggle Manilla and Enid O Conner are absent from school with whooping cough. Miss Alice Campbell spent the weekend at her home near Exline and attended the teachers meeting and luncheon in Centerville Saturday night. Forest Meiicke and father Ralph Mericke are remodeling houses east of Centerville. Francis Milter carried the mail on this part of the route Saturday. Misses Edrie and Reba Callen attended the teachers meeting and luncheon in Centerville Saturday. Miss Ione Luse returned to Centerville Sunday after a week at her home here. Mrs Virgil Tharp called on Mrs R E Luye Wednesday morning. Hitchhiking was the rarest mode of travel in this vicinity Sunday.
Miss Barbara McCumber spent one night with Miss Lucile Coltrain while Mrs. Ezra Coltrain called on G. E. McCumber. Clifford and Cleo Stocker visited Lloyd and Glen Lockman. Fairy Stocker visited Barbara McCumber. Miley Lockman stopped at Elmer Henderson’s Sunday. Rollie Lockman and wife visited Raula Lockman. Roy B. Gideon sawed wood in the neighborhood last week. Fay and Leo Paxston visited Elmer Henderson’s home. Elmer Henderson and baby with Lucita Ballenger visited Gomer Stocker Monday.

House tax reduction bills debated. many measures referred to committees. several high profile reforms include repealing teachers minimum wage law and making levies optional, abolishing the state geological survey, taxing public utility stock, and optional kindergarten.
Two House measures would repeal county aid to farm organizations or make aid optional with a 50 percent cut and a petition by half of all farmers needed. senators proposed a drastic income tax on incomes over 1000 with exemptions for single and married filers and dependents. Governor Herring issued a proclamation delaying farm mortgage foreclosures to allow relief bills, while many relief measures fill the Assembly docket as 228 bills are introduced.
In the Senate session 15 measures were discussed focusing on tax cuts and the economy. The first bill approved by both chambers repealed the mandatory secondary road levy by a unanimous 40 to 0 vote, with 10 members absent or not voting.

Berle Beaty and Marilyn Low with Merle Dicks were at the Priebe home Tuesday. The men folk were butcher ing. J E B Dicks and their daughter Mrs Leo Beaty and family were Saturday visitors. Ned Argo's children visited with Mrs Leo Beaty and Billy Tuesday. Mrs Penfield spent an afternoon with Mrs J E Dicks. Clyde Dicks bought a horse from Roy Purvis last week. Merle Dicks family attended an oyster supper.
Jack Murphy returned home Sunday evening. Beulah and Evelyn Dicks, Rosalie Beaty and Mansel Tarbell visited the Priebe children. Richard Masuman stayed overnight with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Free. Berle Beaty visited his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Feiner. Mrs. Belle Sheldon also called at the Hintz home.
