Moravia high school Greyhounds won a doubleheader against Blakesburg on Friday night at home. The first team prevailed 33 to 15, and the second squad edged Blakesburg 16 to 12. Moravia remains undefeated in the Walcon Science conference games as they prepare to travel to Corydon next.
The United Brethren church in Moravia hosts ongoing revival meetings led by the Van Gundy evangelistic party and Rev Stienkel this week. Each night the church fills nearly to capacity with varied programs and special features. The meetings are expected to close next Sunday night.
Mr and Mrs F W Dotson announce the engagement of their daughter Anphen to W Oster. The couple resides in Wilmington Delaware. The wedding is planned for the near future in the new venue as stated in the notice.
At a Mora meeting the Moravia Co-Operative Marketing Association board chose C O Jones as shipping manager after F P Hawk declined to seek the post again. Hawk praised the association’s record, and Geo W Jones was elected to the board and presidency. Hawk offered statistics and thanked patrons for support.
Word reached the Union office just before press time of the death of Mrs. Dr. Chas. Schreiner of Ollie Iowa, after a long illness. She was the sister in law of P. Schreiner J. I. Schreiner and Mrs. Elizabeth Broshar of Moravia. Funeral services will be held at Sigourney Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
Saturday marked the 76th birthday anniversary of Mrs. T J Turner. Four dozen attendees including Mr and Mrs T J Turner and extended family gathered Sunday with baskets, visiting, and a social celebration at the Turner home.
The menu lists baked chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes and gravy, lima beans, Spanish rice, relish, corn bread, butter, jelly, and coffee. This reflects a classic home style meal plan featuring multiple side dishes and a protein option.

Twenty five years ago on a January weekend Moravia residents woke to window shaking dynamite blast near Hocking seven miles away. A big company store fire touched off a dynamite car explosion. Many locals visited the fire and explosion scenes over the weekend. News also notes candidates J L Dodd for county recorder and A E Tucker for county supervisor. Jim Minnes returned from Texas trip, Everett Kennedy visiting Indiana, and W H Tuttle buying a San Dumas meat market planning relocation.
The U B Church offers a Wednesday dinner featuring chicken pie mashed potatoes kraut and Webuees. The menu includes paramps cottage cheese, carrot and pineapple salad bread butter jelly pie and coffee.
Moravia Iowa January 27 1933 Moravia Public Schools states Moravia High School is fully approved and accredited. The board notes the school meets Normal Training High School standards and North Central Association requirements with graduates entering colleges and rural teaching roles.
Vernon Vierth writes in Asia Union Republican praising Publisher Smith of the Moravia Union for his carefree demeanor and success. He notes the Smith Brothers publish a top small weekly in Moravia. He also cites Berry Holden and himself agreeing the paper is well printed.

Moravia High School announces its first sponsored debating squad in years. The negative team faces Moulton on Wednesday evening February 8 on Moravia’s home floor at 7 20 with music from the Moravia school band. An admission of ten cents for townspeople and five cents for students will help defray expenses.
Mrs W W Slaughter hosted the Kensington Circle at her home last Thursday afternoon January 26. The day marked the 40th wedding anniversary of president Mrs Frank Chambers, who arrived with a three layer wedding cake twelve by eighteen inches presented by their children. The cake graced the luncheon table and guests enjoyed a two course meal served by the hostess.

The Moravia Union promotes a Beacon City cooperative trip to the Century of Progress in Chicago from June to November 1933. It details a private five-acre, gated, tent-housed community with uniformed guards, on-site services, and direct rail transport, all at one price. Mrs. J B Hiatt of University Park Iowa visited with local residents last week.
