Mrs Oss Main Injured In Fall At Centerville

Mrs Oss Main suffered a fall on Christmas Day at the Bernard DeBoule home in Centerville and injured her right leg above the knee. She was taken to Monroe County Hospital for X rays which showed no fracture and she remained for treatment.

Perry couple report hospital stay in Kirkville Missouri

Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Perry traveled to Kirkville Missouri on Thursday. Mr. Perry entered Laughlin hospital for minor surgery and treatment while Mrs. Perry remained at home returning Saturday.

The Ladies Aid plans a Wednesday January 7 dinner at the Christian Church. Menu includes roast beef and noodles, mashed potatoes and gravy, lima beans, beef pickles, tossed salad, bread with butter and jelly, pie and coffee.

Ronnie Woodard Christmas Program Visit Amid Recovery

Ronnie Woodward, recovering from a broken neck, attended a Christmas program at the Methodist church after a visit to Dr. Fox. John Wilson's Sunday school class dedicated their segment to him. He spent Christmas Day with grandparents Harry Woodward and wife, and later with Cody and wife Luse for a belated dinner and gifts. He will undergo more X rays at Monroe County Hospital on Monday.

Kathleen Halden daughter of Mr and Mrs Emil Halden of Moravia wed Bob La Vern Hankins son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Hankins of 607 South Walnut Mr Pleasant at Evangelical United Brethren church Moravia on Saturday December 27 in a double ring ceremony attended by 125 guests. Rev F A Richardson officiated as James Main of Green Mountain Iowa accompanied with vocal numbers and a white satin bouquet carried by the bride. The reception followed in the church parlors and guests from multiple towns attended the event.

Lester Smiths To Note 50th Wedding Date

Mr and Mrs Lester Smith will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday January 4 with an open house from 2 to 4 at Grace Methodist church parlors. They were married December 30 1908. They have a son Wilbur of Whiting Indiana and a daughter Betty Lou Kausik of Albia, plus nine grandchildren. Relatives friends and neighbors are invited.

Moravia Garden club aids shut-ins with sweets drive

Moravia residents reported a Christmas season notice with multiple local families exchanging greetings and visiting relatives. Members of the Moravia Garden club gathered at Mrs. John Veach’s home to bag 50 bags of candy and cookies for ill and shut-in residents.

Golden Anniversary For Pfannebeckers

Mr and Mrs Gus Pfannebecker celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a Sunday open house at the American Legion home attended by over 50 friends. A large white decorated cake and gold candles highlighted the reception. The couple, married Dec 30 1908 in Sigourney, have seven children, 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. a family dinner followed at the Legion home and earlier that day the family visited Sigourney for photos at Emma Veach’s home.
