Rays Rambilin's Visit Reflects Seymour School Reorganization
Rays Rambilin and guests Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Davis of the Seymour Herald praised the newly reorganized Seymour school district as operating smoothly. A district court decision on the Sewal district appeal, filed to be excluded, remains pending in Corydon while Sewal shares the Seymour district under the new system. The Sewal district, now operated with Seymour, reportedly supports the new structure and would likely pass a public vote.

Seymour district tax levy and teacher shortage concerns
Davises report the Seymour district operates on about 28 mills, with reductions from 58 mills in some areas. Some districts in the Seymour district levy no tax due to no school obligations. Superintendent Fenton worries about sourcing teachers to meet state rules requiring 4 year elementary certificates within two years. He hints colleges should attract students with strong educational aims rather than casual college attendance for social reasons.
