Yakima Washington February 5 1958 Mrs Gardner writes from West Valley area noting rapid growth with seven new churches five schools a high school and two medical centers. She mentions 10 000 residents most outside city limits and recent home construction in the $50 000 class. She shares mild winter with early blooms and concerns about fruit frost and reports elk deer and a bear hunted this year.
The Union Neighbors club met at Neta Barnes on February 12 with nine members present. Grace Ahee is moving to Moravia, and a new neighbor Loucille Rearden has joined. Members wrote letters to the Heads and plan the next meeting for March 12 at Hazel Coxes, noting the cold weather.
Regular Urbana Doers 4-H meeting led by Judy Foster covered pledge, roll call listing many members, and reading of secretary and treasurer reports. Letters from County Extension Office read. Five dollars donated to March of Dimes. Planned Dad Daughter night for March 10. Giotto talk and Here’s How demonstration followed by a Valentine exchange.
