Moravia residents enjoyed a peaceful Christmas with family meals and cheerful greetings. H H Rushing found two new-born lambs on December 25, noting Santa may have altered gifts this year. Community reports a pleasant holiday with no disasters and abundant leftovers from holiday meals.
A heartfelt note laments the draft during Yuletide, stressing the separation from home and the economic and social impacts on families. It urges understanding among nations, cites Pearl Harbor as a warning, and ends with a call for peace and better global cooperation for 1955 and beyond. Mr and Mrs Clyde Hiatt celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their Centerville home with an open house from 2 to 5 pm on December 26 1904. The couple married Christmas Day 1904. Guests from Centerville Moravia and surrounding areas attended bearing well wishes and flowers for the couple as they marked a half century of marriage.
Mr and Mrs Clyde Hiatt express gratitude to all who sent cards gifts and calls honoring their golden wedding anniversary in a brief newspaper notice dated this week.

George Morlan longtime Udell resident dies after a prolonged illness. Survived by Mae Ogden Morlan and ten children in several states, 31 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a brother. Funeral held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Fairview Church of the Brethren led by Rev. Richard Burger.
Ravia and Mr and Mrs Franks McElwain along with Mr and Mrs Virgil Dooley spent Christmas with Roy Dooley in Centerville. Bert Meadows hosted Christmas dinner with the Don Pettibone family. Others included Lloyd Rose and family Ed Schindler of Center Carl Hiatt and Gus Hiatt with Art Davis Saturday evening. Mr and Mrs Harold Prough also noted.

Grace Methodist Church led by Rev John Grenfell and Pastor Kari Tuttle lists Sunday School at 10:00 am and 11:00 am worship, with Evangelistic service at 6:30 pm and Youth fellowship at 7:30 pm. Evangelical United Brethren Church led by Rev Lynn G King lists 10:00 am Sunday School, 10:58 am Morning Worship, 6:30 pm Youth Fellowship and Mission Band, 7:00 pm Midweek service on Wednesdays, with Communion during morning worship.
Mr and Mrs Richard Bentzinger enjoyed a chili supper at Clair Mc Daniels Monday night. Mr and Mrs Kerneth Darriels spent Christmas day with the Roy Dooley family. Mr and Mrs Lloyd Rose spent Sunday in Bloomfield with Mr and Mrs Wray Smith. Mr and Mrs Clair McDanel spent Christmas day with Ernest Hiatt and Sunday with Mr and Mrs Cyril McDane. Mr and Mrs John Petersen and Mr and Mrs Henry Witt returned Tuesday night after spending the week at Primgar Iowa.
The Council of escore schedules a meeting for Monday January 3 at 7 30 PM at the church. The notice notes attendees and agenda will be discussed, inviting local residents to attend.
Moravia Garden club gathered at Mrs Art Fox s new home on December 21 with 20 members and one visitor Miss Blanche Graham. President Margaret Callen led the meeting with officer installations by Callen and Virgie Boyer. Corsages were given, mystery pals drawn for the new year, and refreshments served by Mrs Fox and Mary Ochler Victrene Mihslovich and Lucille West. Members sang Christmas carols and packed gift bags for shut ins, delivering over 50 bags to spread cheer.
