Ray Ramblin notes a cautious mood before a photo session but the Moulton squads prove optimistic by winning both games at Moulton. Moravia girls rally from behind but fall to the host team.
Moravia girls improve to eight wins two losses while Moulton boys split with a strong foe as the Hawks execute a 100 percent first-quarter burst. The local scene also notes National Farm Organization activity and farm income shifts amid drought conditions.
Wesley M. Y. F. held a Wednesday evening meeting at the church with 23 young people. Mrs. Frank Heckman served refreshments. A Wesley S. C. S. gathering followed Thursday with 16 adults and five children present. Charity programs featured Christmas hymns, readings, a German Silent Night, and stories by Genevie Donovan and others.
The Sunshine club gathered for a Christmas cooperative dinner on December 7 hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Harrison. Contests, gift exchange, and a nut meat project occupied the day. New officers were elected with Bissie Gladfelder named president and Lucille McKern as secretary treasurer.
Mr and Mrs Lynn Fenton and Linda were Sunday dinner guests with her parents Mr and Mrs Carl Tomlin. Carl Tomlin spent Thursday evening with the Fentons and Sunday evening with Miss Gertie Boyer. Also called was Basha Foster. Rissle and Rosalee Gladfelder visited Roma Tomlin Thursday. They planned for the Fairview Christmas program. The Urbana Doers held a combined meeting and Christmas party on December 5 at the home of Virginia Strong. The group approved pledges, donated five dollars to the Salvation Army and Monroe County Association for Retarded Children, and planned future events at Linda and Nancy Ward’s home. Activities included games, songs, gift exchanges, and refreshments served by Virginia Strong, Nancy Carol Faber, and Jeanne Hawk.
