Superintendent Wells and Principal Guthrey report a solid start for Ray Ramblin's School with a student handbook outlining conduct and operational rules. In a Monday assembly, the leaders introduced faculty and explained expectations to ensure a reputable, high quality educational environment and community cooperation.

Mr and Mrs LeRoy Witt of Lanark Illinois visited Zola Saum on the way home from Missouri where their son resides Mrs Witt accompanied by her mother. Mr and Mrs Marshall Hedgecock and Mr and Mrs Glen McDole spent a week with family at Ladysmith Wisconsin where the men fished. Mrs Ruby Gorden daughter Margaret and Mrs Nancy Martesi san and son left for California Monday with Addie Hull to visit her ill sister. Gladys Harsh reports a busy week of visiting relatives and friends from New Hope. Numerous Harshs and friends from Carbondale Mount Airy St Louis and Ottumwa were seen at gatherings including birthday events farm visits and hospital calls. The weekly notes include visits to IA State Fair and church service attendance with several hosts and guests named.
The Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia hosted the August 16 double ring wedding for Linda Irwin and Bruce Woodward. Rev. Woodin and Rev. Strong officiated before 250 guests with pink gladiola and lavender decor. The bridal party included Mary Kay Hiatt as matron of honor and Janet Rhee as bridesmaid, with Dan Brooks and Max Argo as best and groomsmen. The couple plans to reside in Kirksville after a wedding trip.
Mrs. Burdett Cox reports a flurry of visits and family time across Union Township. Dale Cox guests include the Cox, Hoffman, and Proc tor families, with hospital calls to Mary Foster in Ottumwa and Marie Angel in Iowa City.
