McDonough Johnston Exchange Vows At Home Hussey Wedding

The Moravia home patio hosted the Aug 23 ceremony uniting Janice McDonough and Donald G Johnston before 140 guests. Rev Thomas Woodin officiated, with organist Mrs Gary Charity and soloist Miss Dixie Davis. Attendants included Joyce McDonough Linda Underwood Eileen Hoffman and others. Japanese English Teacher Visits Moravia Schools

Mr Hideya Oe a Japanese English teacher from Iwakuni Japan arrived in Moravia on August 30 for a two week stay. He will meet community groups if invited and stay with Mr and Mrs John Guthrey. He toured junior and senior high classes and asked to learn typing from Mrs Ellison. He plans bus route rides visits to elementary school farms homes and the Fall Festival focusing mainly on schools.

Services Held For Maude Coffin 82

Maude Elen Coffin daughter of John B and Emma Brain Lovell was born November 21 1886 and died September 1 1969 at age 82. She joined Miller Baptist church at fifteen later moved to Moravia and Salem United Methodist in 1939. She served as pianist Sunday school teacher missionary worker and community member. Coffin was a Moravia Telegraph and Moravia Union correspondent for decades. Survivors include three sons Carl Cleil Paul and a daughter Mary Houser along with five grandchildren nine great grandchildren and a brother Clifford Lovell. Funeral services were September 3 1969 at Turner Funeral Home Moravia conducted by Rev L B Deedrick burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mildred Wynnes Takes New Teaching Position in Ottumwa

Mildred Wynnes, daughter of the late Frank and Alta Chambers and former Moravia student, began teaching Tuesday in Ottumwa as a special education instructor at Evans Junior High School. She trained at State University Iowa City, holds a Simpson College degree, and taught 18 years in Albia Community schools.

The 1969 Fall Festival adds Saturday night entertainment with the Cedar Rapids Accordion Aces a 26 member group plus one percussionist. They recently toured cross country and were invited to perform at the International Accordion Festival in New York August 6. Also planned are kiddies races Thursday at 7:00 pm divided by ages, prizes, penny and nickel scramble, advance carnival ride tickets from the high and elementary schools, a Walt Disney movie at 10:00 am Saturday with free admission at the elementary gym.
