About 575 to 585 students will return to Moravia schools Monday as Superintendent Wells leads teachers’ workshops to finalize schedules. New art courses will be added to elementary and high school levels, with many students already showing interest in the high school program.

Henry Foster family gathered at Centerville park on Sunday August 10 for a large reunion. A coop dinner was served around 1 p.m. Blessing was given by Carl Mericle and many relatives attended including Forest Mericle Leona Eaton Claude Wren Olin Foster and Dennis Mericle plus numerous spouses and children. Visitors in the afternoon shared stories and looked at pictures as the group enjoyed social time together.
A bridal shower at Chariton River Baptist Church Friday evening honored Miss Linda Irwin. Hostesses were Mrs. Jean Curtis and Mrs. Janice Moore. Guests included Mrs. Wm. Woodward, Natalie, Mrs. Gary Woodward, Mrs. Gordon Woodward, Mrs. Oswald Irwin, and many Wray and Moore relatives. Games and gifts followed by refreshments were served.
Mrs. Burdett Cox notes a neighborhood gathering on the Cox lawn with Jack Hoffman Gaylord Main Mullins and others visiting. The event featured a cooperative supper and conversation as friends and relatives visited from nearby towns including Bellflower California.
Stocker Clifford Boyer and Dennis Fife were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Koehler of Udell. Carrie Boyer visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Heckman and Mr. and Mrs. Rus sell DeLambert, Pierson, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Andrews, Ottumwa and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Andrews, Jasper Missouri, Sunday evening. Dan Hoffman visited Mr. and Mrs. Burdett Cox and Nyle Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hoffman and family called for him. Dale Hoffman spent Saturday afternoon there. Nyle Cox went with Bobby Whitehead and his parents to the state fair Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Cox and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Burdett Cox and Nyle Friday afternoon and Monday evening.
Nadine Wood and Lynda Hollingworth with family members attended gatherings with the Harsh and Cridlebaugh households in Polo and New Hope. Lois Wilson and friends joined a piano student picnic and swimming party, with several guests spending the night. Ruby Whitehead of Phoenix visited Clelia Free and others in the community Thursday afternoon.
Ovan attended a Tupperware party at Nancy Klampe s home Thursday evening. Visitors from California including Mrs Ruby Cloyed and Mrs Fern Hedges joined Jay Wilson s relatives this past week. Sunday supper guests included Nadine Wood Linda Hollingworth and others with Gen e v ie Ealing and Bessie Donovan. 4 H swimming party at Centerville park Thursday evening featured Linda Marcia and Richard Wilson with Robin Spencer and Peggy Pettibone as overnight guests. Kenneth Free and Paul Stewart families joined a Muscatine weekend visit and a Sunday park picnic.
