He posted 44 ribbons with champion and reserve honors for registered Hamp hogs and junior feeder projects. His four pictured junior feeders weighed 2720 pounds with a total 4530 lbs gain, cost per 100 lbs gain $17.52, and projected prize money around 000 plus added money from the Centerville Jaycees.

Howard Carson son of Francis and Flora Shirkey Carson was born October 21, 1890 in Lancaster Town and died August 1, 1961 at his Moravia home at age 70. He married Florence Beasley on August 20, 1911. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a section foreman from 1922 until retirement in 1953. Survived by wife two daughters Evelyn Langhurat and Myrna Reifschneider of Cedar Rapids one son Darrell of Saugus California one brother Wilbert Hayesville Iowa seven grandchildren three great grandchildren and many relatives. He suffered a heart attack at home after lunch Tuesday and died peacefully. Funeral August 4 at Turner Funeral Home with Rev Weldon Whitenack officiating. Burial Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mosleys demonstrated How to Build a Plant Propagator and its Uses. Dale Uebling offered tips for junior county fair demonstrations. Refreshments were served to a list of members including Richard Calhoun Kenneth Calhoun and Glen Ammons.
