FFA Members Describe 8 Day 2281 Mile Educational Trip
Nineteen Moravia FFA members with advisor and bus drivers completed an eight day journey covering 2281 miles. Highlights included Sioux City stockyards with verbal bids, a modern packing plant, Sugar beets irrigated in Hurley area yielding up to 20 tons per acre, the Corn Palace in Mitchell, Badlands scenery, Rockerville and the Roy Healey Museum, Wind Cave near 40 degree temperatures, Evans Plunge at Hot Springs, Wyoming Hereford ranch with 2800 cattle and bulls shipped from England, Monfort feeding lots near Greeley with 20 000 head on feed, Estes Park and Trail Ridge road, Gr and Lake and the Alvin B Adams tunnel part of the Big Thompson project, and stops at Loveland North Platte and Denver finishing with an alfalfa dehydration plant output of 45 tons per day.

Mr and Mrs Billy Lockman purchased the Ruth Hammond property in the east part of town and plan to move there next week. They are leaving the Mrs Forrest Kaster property. E L Allen and family of Des Moines will move to the Kaster place vacated by the Lockmans. Mr Allen has run the Moravia Welding shop on the east square.

Mrs Robison Dies Suddenly at Son's Home
Mrs John Robison of Memphis Tennessee died suddenly Wednesday at her son Gerald's home in New Orleans Louisiana. She had gone there July 9 to go through a clinic and in failing health her sudden passing was unexpected. She had been planning an evening sightseeing trip with her son and family. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Hope funeral home in Gallatin Missouri.

Cliff Paxstons Move To North Street Home
Mr and Mrs Clifford Paxston moved Saturday to the home they recently purchased from Mr and Mrs A Main, known as the late Austin Jay property on North street. The price ranged between 250000 and 350000 dollars to build the plant. The alfalfa was dried from 90 percent moisture to less than 13.9 percent in about one minute. After drying it was pelleted and shipped to the feed manufacturer. The group visited a church in Kearney Nebraska, then Fremont for recreation and Boystown in Omaha where they toured the dairy farm trade school auditorium and the chapel. They returned home at 4:00 pm on July 24.

Moravia Schools To Open Full Term August 28
Superintendent A R Fenton announced Moravia schools begin on Monday August 28 with full classes all day and hot lunch served on opening day. New courses include Spanish and calculus, and the faculty is complete. A full opening schedule will appear in a future Union issue.

F B Barbecue Draws Record Crowd at Farm Bureau Picnic
Over 800 people attended the annual Farm Bureau picnic at Lake Wapello, the largest group in the facilities’ history. Kenneth Thatcher gave the keynote, beef barbecue weighed 450 pounds, and six counties contributed. A four-line noon service served meals, with games, merchandise drawing, and county winners Lloyd Brown and Sterling Martin.

Howard Carson Dies Suddenly at 70 in Moravia
Howard Carson 70 died of a heart attack at his home in Moravia around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday and was pronounced dead at Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Born October 21, 1890 in Lancaster Iowa, he was a retired Milwaukee railroad section foreman and had lived in Moravia 24 years. Survived by wife Florence Beasley a son Darrell of Saugus California two daughters Evelyn Langhurst and Myrna Reifschneider a brother Wilbert Carson of Haysville Town seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. N F C Meet At Drakesville Draws Iowa Farmers
About two thousand to two and a half thousand farmers and friends gathered at Drakesville for a lamb barbecue on Thursday July 27.
