The Town Publisher notes the Pension department is overwhelmed with veteran reinstatement requests and illegible inquiries. Citizens recall World War records and beg help for insurance, allotments, marriage certificates, and pay status for widows and children amid wartime hardships and bureaucratic delays.
Saturday night program lists pieces and composers including Fred Jewell H Bennett G Rosen krans and Victor Grade. Selections feature marches overtures waltzes serenades and a finale titled Booster Boys. Readable items include Annette Bright Star At Even Tide Young Love Valeria Headway Class Mates and Marches.
The fourth annual Appanoose County 4-H Livestock Show and Home Economics Demonstrations run Wednesday to Saturday in Mystic August 9 to 12. Moravia Public School Band will perform Friday and Saturday. A record 247 head of livestock will be exhibited plus a larger Home Economics exhibit. Premiums total 760 dollars. Ray Murray, Secretary of Agriculture, will speak Friday along with Moravia band concerts and other features drawing many Moravia residents.
Burlington Transportation Company of Chicago received approval from the Iowa board of railroad commissioners to operate motor passenger service and limited freight between Albia Moravia Centerville and the south state line. Hearings on July 10 in Albia favored Burlington for its equipment and public interests. No start date or Moravia service details announced yet.
Mystic visited Moravia and lost 6 to 4 in a well played game. Underwood pitched for Moravia in a strong exhibition with the locals delivering solid defense and timely hits. Coal bid notice seeks 80 tons No 1 lump coal with delivery by specified dates and requires a $25 bond.
Mr and Mrs Allen Boller of Atlantic Iowa visit relatives in town while he completes a summer term at Iowa State College Ames and receives his Master’s degree on July 0th They plan to tour the World’s Pair before returning home

Lulu Mary Elizabeth Fix of Agency died July 26 1933 in Ottumwa at 48. Des Moines county born Nov 20 1884 near Dodgeville daughter of Charles and Irene Kopp. She married Rev O J Fix June 16 1907 and had four children Charles J Irene M Rogers two died young. Funeral at Bethel M E Church Agency drew 600 to 700 mourners.
Heavy rains finally broke Moravis and surrounding area drought with showers starting Monday morning and continuing into Tuesday. Total rainfall nears two inches, bolstering corn crops though gardens had suffered. Overcast skies persist with more moisture expected.
Several real estate changes are noted including Wm Gardner buying the Lovell 80 near W F Houser. A transfer of 60 acres from Lester Smith to C C Long north of Moravia is reported. A 120 acre parcel known as Puring south of Moravia was sold to Mrs Dean Smithburg by the Woodin Savings Bank of Centerville.
Reunions and church homecomings will run under this head at no cost. Officers are urged to send time, place, and other items of interest to the Moravia Union. Reports of events after occurence are appreciated. List includes Peace Sunday August 8 in Des Moines, others around Moravia through August 20.
Rev W A Long Neck er of Mt Pleasant spoke briefly on the deceased life. Floral offerings filled the service as twenty eight ministers and twelve wives of south eastern towns attended. Burial occurred near Wear Burlington. Her sudden death shocked the family and many friends. Several travelled from Moravia and vicinity to attend.
Moravia Fall Festival officials push revived poultry displays to boost interest. Despite past strong shows, exhibits declined and organizers urge everyone to display. The association vows prizes paid in full to winners, regardless of entrants’ money contributions.
A wedding occurred Saturday July 29 at 3 15 PM in Lancaster Missouri uniting Misa Esther Hiner daughter of Mr and Mrs Pearl Hiner of Moravia and Rex Angel of Moravia The couple was joined by Leta Van Cleave and Roy Brooke They plan a motor trip and will reside in Moravia where the groom works at the Brooke garage
About sixteen Moravia Ep worth Leaguers traveled to Moulton flat Friday for a rally and outing at Yates Grove just north of town. An impressive campfire service marked the event with notable attendance from the Iconium Circuit along with other revelers.
Moravia girls, previously practicing on school grounds, plan to schedule a game with a neighboring town team as they move toward the limelight of kittenball this summer.

The Moravia Public School Band under Director Carta will perform at Seontum on Monday at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. as part of Pioneer Day. They will play in Mystic Friday and Saturday for Appanoose County 4-H, then headline a home concert Saturday night. Director Carligalao also directs Mt. Pleasant bands and the Henry County Fair performances this week.
Moravia High School, under Supt O C Irelan, has been accredited by the North Central Association for the period ending April 19, 1934. The association lists standards for facilities, staffing, graduation, and programs, and notes that accreditation is voluntary and advisory, with benefits including college admissions without exams within the North Central states and recognition by state boards for professional certificates.
Iconium gears up for August 6 and 7 homecomings with Sunday religious events and Monday programs. Activities include Sunday School at 10 a.m., morning worship at 11, platform readings, and a main address by Rev. Charles S. Bett. Monday features fiddlers contest, kittenball games, band concert, dinner, and talks by W. A. Hunt and Charles B. Hearst. Refreshments, a relic display, and children’s Auto Kid Aid benefit planned.
The annual Burton reunion gathered Sunday at Centerville City Park drawing many relatives. Attendees included Martha Hiatt oldest member, Matilda Burton, John and Clyde Hiatt families, Hiatt and Burton kin from Moravia Fairfield Ottumwa Richland New York and others. They returned home late evening hoping to meet again next year.

Accreditation enhances prestige, attracts non-resident pupils, and increases patron confidence and support for Moravia High School, one of the few schools of its size in the state with such accreditation.
