Brownie Troop 927 met April 20 with eleven girls and two leaders present. They discussed plans for future meetings and summer get togethers, including a wiener roast for the final meeting. Sheila Dowd provided cookies for refreshments.
Local Easter visits mark the day as Gary Perry Julie Jeff and Mrs Sylvia Hiatt spent Sunday with Raymond Perry in Albia and visited Mrs Gary Perry hospitalized in Monroe County Hospital before transfer to Des Moines. Other relatives visited Mrs Grace Mahin recovering from a stroke as an Easter lily was presented. Twenty five Nagarene church members observed Easter sunrise devotions and breakfast at the Don Kiampe home at 5:30 a.m.
Senior citizens meals listed for Monday April 26 with saarpkraut and cherters mashed potatoes mixed vegetables and dessert. Wednesday April 28 offers chicken noodles mashed potatoes peas salad and dessert. Friday April 20 features pot luck.
Monday afternoon Dr and Mrs Main delivered checks to their homes and returned to Olathe Kansas. Visitors included Mr and Mrs Wayne Lichty and Mr and Mrs David Oweng with Mrs Margaret Callen. Margaret Callen spent Easter with the Robert Cocks in Albia. Homer Fletcher visited Ralph McDonough’s home. Steven Wulff Kristin La Donna Corbett and others joined Easter service with Wilma Whicker and visited Carl Corbett and Delia Hefner at Center ville. Douglas Main helped with field work and joined Cantata in Oskaloosa and Heritage Choir in Marshalltown before returning to Roberta Palmer’s for refreshments.
Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa announces its second flower show school for District 4 in Moravia at Salem United Methodist Church from April 26 to 28. Registration starts 8:30 a.m. Monday with lectures by M. D. Gramer and Horticulture topics, plus sack lunches. Tuesday features design elements led by Charles Weigel, with lunch and more lectures. Wednesday includes a written exam for credit. Open to all. tuition required.
Friday and weekend visits attach numerous households across Russell Newton and surrounding towns. Hosts include the Wilsons, Proughs, Franks, Harolds, Overturfs, Wests, Bates, Hiatt, McDanel, and Durian families with relatives from Moline OsKaloosa Marshalltown and Des Moines. Attendees share dinners, Sunday gatherings, and a Loren Brantley funeral in Princeton Mo.
Miss Janice Grinstead daughter of Mr and Mrs Dean Grinstead of Blakesburg will graduate April 30 from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College Kirksville with magna cum laude I BSE and BA in Political Science She is a 1972 Moravia High School graduate and plans to wed Jerry Mefford of Louisana Mo August 7 at the Christian Church in Blakesburg
The American Legion Auxiliary met April 19 at the Post Home with 20 members and two guests. Delegates elected were Wanda Murdy Fern Hudgens Mary Kay Hiatt alternates Louemma Palmer and Mary McClurg Garnet Brain reported on US Constitution centennial project. Fifth district convention set for Albia April 25 with registration 8 to 9 am at Odd Fellows hall.

Mrs Ellen Paxston entertained the E T C Club Thursday at her home. A bulb and plant exchange occurred followed by rook. Genevieve Morgan won the door prize while Fern Hudgens and Louemma Palmer won rook prizes. Cherry pie with whipped cream topping nuts candy and coffee were served.

Enough girls signed up to create a three team league this year. A player draft will organize the teams. Managers and coaches volunteer and plans for the season are under way.
