Moravia stories tell of Turner Funeral Home undertaker Daryl Grimm being treated by friends to a hearty breakfast at Moravia cafe. The spread included seven eggs, seven slices of bacon, four toast, and seven cups of coffee as locals remark on spring rains and fields waking up.
A Union editor’s weekend included joy as Mrs Tennessee Walker’s excellent filly colt impressed observers and visitors arrived. Saturday night showed energetic excitement before dawn revealed the colt’s death with veterinarian notes offering no clear cause beyond possible nourishment issues. Moravia’s Mary Bruce visits Des Moines to observe legislative actions under sponsorship of Rep John Brunow and the Moravia Booster Club.

Mr and Mrs Robert Kain Laura Jayne and Alison Des Moines were Sunday dinner guests. Sympathy extended to the bereaved of Hugh McFatridge. Mrs Merle Prater Mr and Mrs Tom Williamson and daughter Kahoka Missouri visited Ohio last week. James McCord Monmouth Illinois spent Friday evening through Saturday with Edward McCord.
Mrs Sandra Miller and family visited the B F Whitehead and Det Whitehead homes Friday. Guests included John Huff and Ryan of Knoxville and Gene Huff relatives. Other Saturday guests were Tory Huff Jason Hazel Sandeen and Kathy Zintz. Fern Callen of Albia returned home after visiting Edward McFord. Jerry Brown and family spent Friday night and Saturday with Lloyd Brown. Edward McCord and Paul Turner families were Sunday dinner guests. Jason Huff stayed with grandparents Gene and Mrs Huff. Lloyd Brown and Mrs Carl VanZante visited Thursday evening a few others shared weekend time with Gene Huff and family.
Several locals attended the wedding of Tom Spring and Robin French Saturday at Mount Herman United Methodist Church in Chariton Missouri. Community members joined in birthday and hosting gatherings, with visits and meals at multiple homes, including Hedgecock and Simms families, and guests from Colfax and Goodland Kansas.
Moravia girls win with 6614 points over Mormon Trail 3844 as Jeanne Massman and Susan Whitehead lead field events and sprints. Moravia boys place in events led by Trent Mebley and Darrin Tubaugh with strong relay and hurdle showings.
A dense schedule lists April and May outdoor events at Wayne Cert terville New Sharon Moravia Bloom field and other towns with many relays and district state tournaments. It includes listed times 4:00 p.m. various dates and numerous meet names such as Warhawkette Mustang Moravia and S.E. Warren. Individual performances mention Mark Vance Bobby Klampe Stan McElderry and others with various sprint and relay results and records revised at Moravia and Wayne meets.
Mon April 8 offers Macaroni and cheese with whole tomatoes and fruit. Tue April 27 features fritch fries cole slaw ground chicken sandwich with pineapple upside down cake. Wed April 28 serves barbecued beef on bun corn fruit. Thu April 29 includes chili and cheese sticks with milk and rolls. Fri April 30 offers tacos with lettuce cheese green beans cookies and milk.
