Teen Driver in 1967 Ford In Crash Near Onslow
Accident Wednesday at 6 30 p m on highway 136 involved Betty Ann Phelps 17 Center Jct and Charles Donald Castle 23 Wyoming. Phelps drove a 1967 Ford owned by Osterkamps and was southbound turning onto a county road when Castle rear ended her, pushing into a right ditch one fourth mile south of Onslow. Deputy James Benter investigated with Iowa Highway Patrol.

The Express reports most of the current city administration plans to seek re election with four council members and the mayor taking out papers. Mayor C L Norlin, Robert Savage, Paul Arduser, Mary Durst, and D W Kaiser have filed. John Giegerich will not seek re election. Glen Hargrave had not filed but was said to plan to run. Frank Straub filed as park commissioner.

Six new civil suits were filed in Jones county district court, with claims against Eugene Pieray Jr, Dick Wherry, Alan Houska, Mona's Flower Shop, Willard Rickels, and a reciprocal support case involving Jack Lynn Fowler. Three judgments were awarded Friday for unpaid accounts involving St. Luke's hospital, Jackson County hospital, and Seehusen Insurance. Two dissolutions of marriage granted, two inmates jailed for escape, and juror assignments adjusted for January term.

Monticello man jailed on four charges
Ronald Ray, 20, of Monticello, is serving 20 days in Jones county jail on assault, assault and battery, interfering with a police officer, and profane language. A Sept. 20 hearing before Justice C. F. Shimanek followed an incident early Sept. 17. Three juveniles were bound over to juvenile court. Ray protested a summons issued to a Monticello driver and followed officers to the Community building where the remaining charges were filed.
