Tractor Mishap Claims Life Of John E Paulsen
John Emil Paulsen 39 rural Scotch Grove farmer died in a tractor accident on a county gravel road about 3:30 p.m. Friday. He had farmed near Scotch Grove since 1955 with his wife Winifred DeWees and four children. Funeral services were held at Scotch Grove Presbyterian Church with burial in Wyoming cemetery. He served in the U.S. Army 1953-55 and was survived by his wife, three daughters Tina Sue Dana, a son Jeff, his parents and several siblings. The accident occurred near the Paulsen residence about three miles north of Onslow.

Two civil suits and four criminal actions were filed this past week in Jones county district court. Carstensen Freight Lines seeks judgment of 138.90 plus 5 percent interest and costs from B E Gillispie dba Fix It Shop. Collins Employees Credit Union Cedar Rapids has action against Wilbur and Jeanne Behnke Anamosa for 3475.50 with security on a 1966 Buick and consumer goods, judgment sought 2749.30 and possession. writ of replevin issued. A DUI charge was filed Oct 5 against Glen Louis Thomas Anamosa and an OMVAS charge Oct 4 against Errol David Moline Anamosa. both bound over from JP J August Pearson. Steven L Wright Olin charged Oct 1 with axes overload. Fine over 100 led to transfer from Howard Mackey JP to district court. Kenneth D Guite an inmate in Anamosa charged Friday with escape. In a hearing Friday the court found for Gary Lee Townsend in appeal of a reckless driving charge state failed to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. lower court judgment reversed and set aside. Townsend found guilty of contempt in Orr v Orr for failure to comply with a support order. Orr sentenced to 30 days in jail. Larry Louis Siebels dissolution of marriage noted.
