Tractor Mishap Injures Monticello Youth
Everett Frimml 17 of rural Monticello was hospitalized after a tractor tipped on wood chip piles. He suffered a fractured pelvis but was listed in good condition at John McDonald Hospital. Neighbor Roger Lange lifted the tractor to free him and Frimml was transported by Monticello emergency unit. The accident occurred around 1 p.m. on the Frimml farm seven miles west of Monticello.

Two Monticello Collisions Reported August 30
Minor damage reported in two Monticello accidents August 30. Lynn K. Ritter, Monticello, charged with improper backing after a collision with Darwin Lee Mesch of Hopkinton. Mesch's 1971 Chevrolet suffered $100 damage. Ritter's International pickup undamaged. A second crash at S Main and E Washington involved James N. George of Dubuque in a 1956 Buick and Dr. Ronald L. Barney of Monticello.

Mayor explains city overspent 1970 budget details
At a Monday city council session Mayor C L Norlin addressed a news article on the 1970 budget overspend totaling about 93000 dollars. He cited sewer improvements funded 50 percent by federal grants and 25 percent by the state with the remaining 25 percent from city revenue bonds to be paid over 16 years. Anticipatory warrants were used to pay the contractor as grants arrived and will be redeemed by bond receipts and federal funds. In other news Rotarians heard a film on law enforcement communications chaired by Arnold Seitz with President Jim Nelson at St Luke s Methodist church.

Caraway Ends Practice at Monticello Clinic
Dr. L. D. Caraway terminates his 15 year association with Drs. Randolph and McDermott at the Monticello Clinic. He served as Jones county medical examiner and volunteer high school team doctor and helped establish the coronary care unit at John McDonald hospital where he was medical director. No future plans or details were released.

At 12 35 p m a blaze threatened a nearby garage and fire crews worked as debris continued to smoke until burning out per Assistant Fire Chief Larry Stoneking.
