Extension Denied in Annexation Appeal in Monticello Suit
In Jones County District Court Friday the appeal in City of Monticello et al v Eugene Adams et al was denied an extension to perfect the appeal to the Iowa Supreme Court. The Aug 12 deadline had passed after the extension request was filed Aug 17. A Sept 6 Supreme Court hearing on a motion to dismiss was scheduled amid other district court actions and multiple sentencing and dissolution of marriage rulings.

Postmaster Paul Bender reports the Monticello post office remodeling and additions, costing 377727 dollars, are progressing with a new east entryway and west addition. The project, started last April, aims for 330 days completion and will expand the loading dock and create more work area while keeping operations in place.
