Monmouth boy Mark Dundee sixth traffic death in Jones county this year
Mark Dundee 13 of Monmouth was fatally struck crossing highway 1 at a Martelle overpass. He died about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. services were held at Goettsch Funeral Home Anamosa and he is survived by his mother Dorothy and father Duane among others. The incident was investigated by the Iowa Highway Patrol amid other weekend accidents in Jones county.

The Monticello Citizen's Advisory Committee finished tours of Central School, the elementary schools, and five special education facilities on Sept 20 27 and Oct 4. The group will meet monthly with Louis Freese as chair to draft a school philosophy and invite broad citizen input.

Rotary hears Iowa agriculture official as 2025 candidate
Robert Lounsberry deputy secretary of agriculture for Iowa spoke to Monticello Rotarians Monday. He will run for secretary of agriculture next year. He outlined department authority meat inspection issues farm legislation and farm program improvements. Roy Miller chaired the program and Jim Nelson presided.
