Two Fatal Crashes Hit Jones County Saturday
In Jones county two traffic deaths occurred in a 2:30 a.m. Saturday crash on highway 64 near Anamosa. John David Johnson 52 died from a broken neck. Gloria Johnson 41 died of massive head injuries. Blair Richard Taylor 17 survived with facial and chest injuries. A parolee Torrance Sanchez was injured in a separate one car crash after a high speed chase near Monticello.

Pursuit Ends In Tire Blowout After High Speed Chase
A Marion officer chased Sanchez at speeds up to 115 mph before a flat tire between Anamosa and Monticello halted the pursuit. Sanchez, driving a 1965 Dodge registered to Duayne Tiesdoetter, faced multiple charges. speeds above 100 mph were logged by another officer. The incident followed a separate collision near Wyoming injuring three teen musicians en route to Monticello.

One-Car Mishap Leads to Charges in Anamosa Area
An Anamosa youth Edward Leonard McDowell 18 was charged with failure to have control after a 1955 Pontiac ran off a curve on old highway 151 one mile southwest of Anamosa. Deputy Wright investigated the Friday incident with no injuries reported. Nine traffic deaths are listed in Jones county this year.
