Mother's Day Visitors and Lightning Strike Near Spencerville
Mrs Lee Haring attended a missionary tea at the Methodist church in Anamosa on May 8. A lightning strike damaged the ranch home of Mr and Mrs Ted Miller near Spencerville, built in 1954, with ruined outlets and splintered woodwork while no one was home. Mr and Mrs Ray Chaplin of Monticello visited Mrs Clara Chaplin for Mother's Day. James Chaplin, Cornell student, was home for the holiday.

The Twilight women's bowling league held its annual season end banquet at Poplar Heights with 72 attendees including bowlers and sponsors.
