The Monticello region records a series of obituaries and community notes. Mrs Harry Ireland died after a goiter operation at Iowa State University. Robert Wilson long-time Monticello resident passed away at McDonald hospital. Nine year old Clifford Behrends died after scarlet fever. John Bohlken marked his 80th birthday in Sand Spring. Frank Lubben died at Maquoketa hospital and widow Jennie Lubben had Monticello roots. The Monticello school system announced June 6 graduation with 60 students. Vivian Benesh was re elected as Walford teacher with raise. Raymond Hodgson won junior college music festival honors at Tipton. The Dirks celebrated 45th anniversary in Scotch Grove. J J Locher of Monticello honored by American Insurance Company for 26 years service. Several local events, anniversaries, and community changes noted. A frost on the 10th damaged gardens and fruit. Mrs Henry Neunaber of Scotch Grove died aged 25. Funeral services held with burial at the local cemetery.
