Seventeen entrants from Monticello competed at the Marion state music contest on Friday April 27. Ten earned Division I in piano and other solos, with Kreeb and Sutherland rated Division I for piano solos. Kreeb won Division I for his honor event cornet solo, while Alice Clark Elfrieda Ortgies earned Division I for flute solos and Helen Gerdes earned Division I for tuba.
Monticello traveled to Town City for a triangular meet with University High and City High. Monti's athletes placed across events led by a first in the 880 yard relay and a pole vault tie for first, with University High prevailing overall.

The bulletin board covers the San Francisco Conference with daily articles and pictures. Dick Sutherland is added to the senior play Smilin Through sharing the young John Carteret role.
The class of 1945 held its junior senior banquet at the community building with pink and green decorations and a Chinese themed menu. Guests included faculty and spouses. post dinner programs featured acts by students and a Gus Fuhrman orchestra.
