All offices of the Jones county courthouse will be closed Saturday morning December 23. The courthouse will reopen for business Tuesday December 26 according to an announcement by the board of supervisors.

Candle light lane event planned in Hopkinton streets
Candle light lane will be displayed in Hopkinton Saturday Sunday and Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Dr Herbert Gearhart serves as chairman of the annual event. A total of 160 candles will be lit on each side of Andrew street for four blocks in the northeast section of Hopkinton.

Charge driver after two-car collision
Monticello youth Michael Kraus aged 17 was charged with improper passing after a two-car crash on North Sycamore. He drove a 1966 Ford station wagon and tried to pass 1966 Dodge driven by Dianne Doden aged 16 on the left side. Damages totaled 450 dollars and no injuries were reported. Officer Jerry Chapman investigated.
