Paul Messerli Elected 4-H Club President in Jones County
Paul Messerli of Monticello was elected president of the Jones County Boys 4-H Club for 1946 at the Father-Son banquet in Oxford Junction. Officers include Paul Paulsen vice president and David James secretary, with Boyd Chatterton treasurer. Royal Holbrook of Iowa State College spoke on local industry. Winners announced for the Town State College Short Course trips and various 4-H honors.

Hopkinton Electric Plant Installs New Diesel Engine
A 300 hp Fairbanks Morse diesel engine was unloaded for Hopkinton Municipal Electric. Local contractor Lester Gearhart installed the base. factory workers will complete installation. The engine doubles current output and will support rising kilowatt use. Christmas program set at Presbyterian church December 16 featuring a candlelight service and a long carol lineup led by Rev. J. T. Veneklassen.
