Nine people named the mystery farm shot used in last week’s Express as Theodosia Pulver’s property. The Lahr family, renting by shares, operate the 103 acre site four miles north of Monticello, two miles south of Sand Springs on highway 38, with 125 Poland China hogs and multiple dairy cattle and poultry.
Tommy Takes son of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Takes was taken to Mercy hospital Cedar Rapids Tuesday Aug 7 after swallowing a slug from an electric appliance The slug was removed without surgery and Tommy was brought home the following day Miss Norma Jean Fagan was honored at a cash shower Sunday evening Aug 12 at St Peters hall
Monticello neighbors Mr and Mrs Robert Wilkinson of Ft Dodge visited friends on Monday with daughters Diane and Linda joining them for the return trip. The Guilfords of Monticello and Anamosa toured the western states on a two week vacation and visited Frank Huggins of Ferndale Washington during the trip.

Two Wyoming families report returning home after week long visits to Loveland Denver and Colorado Springs for the Zamastil family. The Thompson family visited Loveland Denver Colorado Springs Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park and attended Frontier Days in Cheyenne. They also visited former Wyoming residents Mr and Mrs Dan Fedderson. A Day family group included Mrs Day and her twin sister Mrs Arthur.
The Worth while Homemakers club met at the home of Mrs Ed Schemmel on Wednesday afternoon August 8 with Mrs Clarence Stadtmueller as co hostes. A desert luncheon was served at 1 30 p m. 14 members answered roll call for An Undone Task Discovered After the Guests Had Arrived. Guests included Mrs Vincent Donovan Janet Elizabeth Specht Peggy Thomsen Mary Beth and Mrs Don Siebels Stephen Mark and Pamela. The group sang Happy Birthday to August birthdays: Mrs Raymond Kromminga Mrs Richard Skelley Mrs F H Kromminga and Mrs Ed Schemmel. Book reports were handed in. The reading contest for club children closes Sept 1 with reports due at the September meeting. Demonstrations were given by 4 H girls One Bow Cake by Elizabeth Specht and Janet Donovan junior team of the Castle Grove Fortune Finders and Tasty Treat Chocolate Chip Cookies by Mary Beth and Peggy Thomson, junior team of the Prairie Hill Be Natural Club. The September meeting will be Sept 12 at the home of Mrs Louie
Schultz and husband from Lost Nation spent weekend in the Ozark Mountains returning Sunday. Petersen couples on a weeklong Minnesota trip. Westphals from Marshalltown and State Center visited the Brodersen home to meet new two month old Nancy. Chesmore visits return to Chelsea with Abrendesen and Sarby of Clear Lake. Buell of Lone Tree guests of Stoffel. Local police and citizens noted among weekend activities with social visits and a flower booth sighting.
Alferts and Mrs. Fred Kromminga hosted guests. Rev. and Mrs. Klein and Carthage family visited Seehusens. many families attended church events, camp, and farm bureau activities. Monticello area residents hosted, dined, and celebrated, with birthdays noted and plans for moving to California.

Mrs. Max Specht and the Donovan sisters attended the Cass Township Achievement show on Thursday evening August 2. A baby girl named Vicky Rae Thomson was born August 2 at Monticello hospital weighing 6 pounds 12 ounces. The Thomsons’ family includes two daughters and two sons. Fred Blohm hosted a supper on August 8 in honor of daughter Velma turning 15, with guests Fred Kromminga and several others listed.
Jerry Shaw arrives home Sunday on a two week leave from Ft Leonard Wood Missouri. He will report back Friday August 17 to Ft Knox Kentucky. Dr and Mrs R W Myers and family and Janice Kuntz are vacationing at Lake Okoboji and plan to stay until August 22.
