Extensive Improvements At Benedict Farm Near Monticello
The Benedicts renovated their 160 acre farm two miles southwest of Monticello. A new three bedroom house a 24 by 24 foot garage a hog house and a silo were built. Cemented floors updated water system and a new driveway with 90 tons of crushed rock accompany new trees and orchard. The farm shares in corn oats hay and pasture with 60 acres in corn and 30 in oats yielding 60 bushels per acre. 35 to 40 Grade Holstein cattle 240 Hampshire hogs and 300 White Rock chickens are raised. Eldon 17 and Ivan 20 plan futures in teaching and ministry. All findings noted by local Express staff.

Iowa State Fair 4-H Exhibits And Livestock Entries
Several boys and girls will exhibit at the Iowa State Fair with entries by Glen Woods Sandra Ballou Joe Barth and Don Mackey. Entries are due August 13 in the extension office. Four H livestock shows run August 24 and 25 with release August 25. A third boys 4-H livestock judging workout is planned for August 7 with details to be announced.
