Express staff sweep IPW contest with 10 awards
Monticello Express staff members won 10 awards in the Iowa Press Women competition for 1975 announced at the IPW spring meeting at Iowa State University Ames. Betty Wagner editor and co publisher was named Iowa IPW president to fill the unexpired term of Dorothy Shrader. Stevens and Clemons also earned top honors in editorial and newspaper categories.

Stolen car chase ends with man hurt and suspect jailed
A stolen car led Monticello police on a 100 mph chase near Monticello early Sunday April 25. The suspect Tom Appleby 23 Cedar Rapids was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle DUI speeding reckless driving and related offenses. Tim Connelly Monticello suffered a broken ankle when the car rolled over his leg after he followed a driver into a ditch. Appleby bonded at 3090 and to appear April 28 while Connelly received hospital treatment.
