Linn wins four year art scholarship at UNI
Monticello high school senior Joe Linn earned a four year art scholarship from the University of Northern Iowa Cedar Falls. UNI held the Visual World Symposium on April 2 with seventy five seniors competing. Linn showcased pottery work previously shown in the high school library and he operates a small basement studio. He studied outdoor fuel firing and other pottery methods in the 1976 summer with instructor John Kortemeyer. Linn is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Les Linn.

Express wins three awards at Iowa Press convention
The Monticello Express earned second place for General Excellence in the Class I Weekly Division at the Iowa Press Association contest held April 8 to 10 in Des Moines. Cresco Times-Plain Dealer won first place and Iowa Newspaper of the Year. Express also got honorable mentions for editorial page and advertising layout.

The Jones County Historical Museum will host an open house Sunday May 16 from 1 to 5 30 p m at the Pioneer Village site near Edinburg east of the Jones County Care Facility. The museum building, dedicated in September 1974, houses preserved historical items.
