Fifty Pound Sturgeon Caught Near Newport by Gillmore
John Gillmore learned a fifty pound sturgeon had been caught near the Catlin Club House at Newport. Bill Lancaster reeled in the fish with a No. 3 hook using a three year old trot line. The fish, four feet seven inches long, drew a crowd as Gillmore displayed it at his lunch room.

Clinton Tragedy Ends In Double Killing At Home
In Clinton on Saturday at 7 PM Grover Jackson the divorced husband of Mrs J L Church shot her three times in her backyard then killed himself by firing a shot into his head. Mrs Church 23 had recently married Mr Church who ran a Hillsdale livery barn. Jealousy and alcohol are cited as triggers for the tragedy.
