A woman pursues a cruel dream amid praise and neglect. She abandons kind suitors and blindly follows a destructive lover into disaster. The poem contrasts upheld vanity with warnings ignored and ends with her ruin and society’s measured blame.
Town Trustees opened two bids for a new Town Hall. Jerome Brothers bid $1800 with all features including steel cages. J H Ryan of Attica bid $1567 without cages. Board awarded to Jerome Brothers after executive session. old calaboose sold for $15 to Frank Lee.
Open Monday September 15 with a full teaching staff led by Superintendent J G Hirschrunener guiding Mathematics and Manual Training. Elmer P Devol serves as high school principal for Science and History, with a full lineup of teachers across grades and subjects.
An ice cream social is announced for Friday evening September 26 at the West Union school house. All residents are invited to attend.

State fire marshal reports for August 15 21 show 102 fires from lightning and 134697 dollars in total losses. The week totals include 176 fires 8127 827 dollars lost in buildings and contents.
Lydia Paris Wolfe born November 19 1844 in Big Prairie Round Michigan died September 6 in Montezuma after a long illness. She endured much loss including orphaned childhood and the death of her husband James Wolfe in 1895. Survived by five children Joseph Wolfe Harry Wolfe Mrs Elihu Jackson James Edgar Wolfe Mrs Nettie Sylvester and two grandchildren Roy Murphy and Mrs E bert Allison. She was a member of the Christian Church in Montezuma and cherished religious reading hymns and scripture.
Mrs. Lydia Paris Wolfe died Saturday and was buried Monday at Oakland cemetery at 2 o'clock. Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter Mrs. Sylvester with Rev. Hicks officiating.
Mrs Jennie Garrett wife of Samuel H Garrett died Monday at home. Survived by husband and two sons Lawrence and Ralph. Remains interred at Oakland Cemetery Tuesday evening with Rev Hicks officiating.
James H. Briggs died Wednesday evening at 7 30 at his daughter's home Mrs Ratcliff from heart trouble. He had been ill but a day and his death surprised his friends and comrades, he was an old soldier. Funeral services will be held and he will be taken to Kingman for burial.
A pretty wedding was held at the Methodist Parsonage Thursday evening Sept. 4 at 5 o'clock with Rev. R. J. Hicks officiating. Wilbur Maffett of Dana wed Miss Muriel Machledt of this place. The couple, well known in the community, left for Dana that evening.
A roundup of residents and visitors from Dana and nearby towns. People attend the State Fair in Indianapolis, visit relatives in Terre Haute and Shelbyville, and attend various local events. Fencing ads and a September range demonstration at H. S. Cornwell are noted, along with local job changes and road work updates.
The church announces Sunday program times with Sunday school at 9 30 a m morning service at 10 45 and evening service at 7 30.
A basket dinner is planned at Linebarger chapel one week from Sunday. The Sunday services include the usual morning service and a special afternoon service. An Enterprise notice will repeat the announcement next week. The piece reflects on strength rising through adversity.
