Two party tickets appear one field lists incumbents and new candidates the other Labor Ticket offers Henry C Johnson Arthur R Machin Charles W Back and others. Voters urged to select men with business ability for a stable administration.
R. R. Chavez will deliver sermons at morning and evening services on Sunday November 2. The morning topic is Continuing in Christ and the evening topic is What is your Life. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Ladies of the Christian church will hold a market in a room one door south of W. 4 King’s Dry Goods store on Saturday at 2 P M.

Purdue University extension workers prep for a December three day Farmers Short Course at Rockville Indiana. Prof G I Christie says eight travelers will visit 15 to 20 Indiana towns to spread livestock breeding feeding and management skills along with horticulture poultry husbandry soils and household economy. The program features live stock demonstrations from the Purdue herd and aims to save farmers thousands of dollars through practical instruction. Last year attendance exceeded 700 and organizers expect continued growth.
A group of friends met Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Lindley for a pleasant gathering. A two course luncheon was served. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Pickard and their children, Mr. and Mrs. William Norris, Mr. and Mrs. Chas Machlett, and Mrs. Oxley.
The Amalgamated Society of Thimble Twisters met with Miss Marie Johnston Wednesday evening and reorganized with Miss Gertrude Rierdon as president and Miss Lora Reeder as secretary and treasurer. The group will meet every other week during winter.
A. B. Leonard and his wife visited his former parents at Bloomingdale on Sunday, spending time with family and returning home afterward.
Martha Ann Baugh Bran Nicely, daughter of Jeremiah and Ann Nicely, born November 12, 1836, died October 13, 1913 at age 76. She married John Baugh July 11, 1875. one daughter Ada died in infancy. Survived by four of five children Gertie Berry Henry Jessie Fred Baugh, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral by Rev Charley Cook at Fred Pitman home. interment Leatherwood Cemetery.
Mr and Mrs Arthur Machin hosted a birthday party Thursday with guests including Mr and Mrs Wil Wright and daughter Mr and Mrs Ben Phillips Mr and Mrs Fred Shalley Mr and Mrs Fred Murphy of Decatur and Miss Dorris Dill Will Wright won the prize for the biggest eater Several handsome presents were given and well wishes poured in for many more happy birthdays.
Reserve Township hosts a Sunday School Convention at the M E Church in Montezuma on November 19 with an afternoon program including Welcome by M B E Chair Rev Ulay and Rev A B Simpson, a Mission School talk, Miss Mary Linebarger discussion, recitation by Letty Morgan, and evening song devotional by Rev Ulay and congregation with quartette performances.
Tom Catlin of Rockville was in town Saturday and Mrs. R. L. Dooley visited Terre Haute and Indianapolis. Mrs. Le Mullin of Clinton visited Mrs. Martha DeMott. The Presbyterian Ladies Aid meets with Mrs. Dooley on November 5. A sale lists a horse mare and Berkshire hog. Sam Holmes, Nellie Leach and Clarence Garrett wed at the Methodist parsonage. Burks plan a Kansas trip. Bloomingdale marks a 48th anniversary for William Lindley. Hancock and others visit Terre Haute for clay works upgrades. Winter arrives with a rain that turns to snow, leaving ground sloppy.
William Elkin died Saturday at his son Lew Elkin's home in Vermillion County after a stroke. Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the U B Church with interment in Oakland Cemetery. He had been in ill health for a year and had stayed at his south end town home before visiting his son.
Community box supper planned at West Union School House on Friday evening November 7. Perry Jarred visited his parents after returning from Grant Park. John Norris and Cap Lowry buy the Mathas Fellows barber shop with E W Lindley assisting Norris while Cap and Frakes keep the Hotel shop running.

Mrs Oxley left for Butler to oversee California Extract Co agency work. Mrs Jerry Moffett of Dana visited Chas Machlett. McGinty and Cheesewright attended Teachers Institute in Tangier. Fur season opens Nov 1. Geo Mathas & Son buying furs.
