A home talent minstrel show on December 19 will benefit the Christmas Tree fund. Returning from the famed M. B. M. A. Minstrels, Henry Rierden and Capt J G Lowry among others will perform in disguise. Proceeds aid charity. tickets go on sale in December with no resales to speculators.
The Chicago Lyceum Players present the first Entertainment Course a Saturday night November 22 at the Opera House. The program features plays and sketches from literature and character portrayal designed to educate and amuse. Season tickets for four entertainments are one dollar with reserved seats. children's tickets sixty cents. single admissions 15 25 and 35 cents.
Church leaders met Monday to organize a union meeting at the Presbyterian Church at 10 30 a m The sermon will be preached by Rev A B Simpson and special music will accompany the service
Emmett Crabb of Rockville was here a short time Tuesday and had his name placed on the Enterprise list. He has now served at the light plant there for three years and is giving good satisfaction. Frank Reeder of Clinton spent the weekend with home folks.
Rumors spread that Marion Brick Works would close for winter storage as stockholders complain brickmaking would be unprofitable with current labor costs. Managers propose wage cuts and reduced output to sustain operations until March, with plan to produce eighty thousand bricks daily and resume full operation in spring.
A citywide Christmas Tree drive raised more than 200 through a subscription list collected last week for underprivileged children. The fund remains open until December 20 with a published subscriber list to follow. A home talent minstrel show on December 19 will add proceeds to the fund.
The Rockville Republican issue from April 11 1860 carries speeches by O P Morton and John G Davis on the Republican ticket for lieutenant governor and Henry S Lane for governor with Benjamin Harrison as Reporter of the Supreme Court. It lists lodge officers and trustees including Montezuma Temple of Honor No 70 and Reserve Lodge No 102 I O O F. It notes James Jacobs elected Trustee of Reserve township and C W Richards and W W Irons as constables. Indianapolis population 25606 with 625 colored residents and Bloomingdale post office established.
The Montezuma Dancing Club held a Friday night dance at Montgomery Hall with thirteen couples all local. An orchestra from Terre Haute provided music and attendees reported a most enjoyable evening hoping for more social events this winter to dance to the music.
Members Albert Jerome Caleb Pickard John Morgan William Norris and By Darling attended a large K of P gathering in Newport on Saturday night. They traveled by evening train and returned Sunday morning after a lavish feast of roast possum pig and accompanying dishes.
Edgar Norman, a substantial farmer from the northern part of Reserve township, visited Saturday to correct an earlier birth announcement. He says the child is only the ninth son and will be named Woodrow Wilson Norman, a name that carries a notable responsibility for the youngster.
Mrs. O A Newhouse and sister Miss Verna Stoner hosted a bunco party for about twenty five friends at the Newhouse home on Thursday afternoon. Miss Mabel Hollowell won with the highest score and a two course luncheon was served.
At the town council meeting on Thursday night the board selected Fred A. Stebbins to fill the unexpired term of Fred Dicken as Trustee from Ward Two.

The notice lists the church schedule with Sabbath School at 9:30 a.m. and two preaching services at 10:45 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. under Pastor J. D. Ulay.
A historical note from Montezuma Indiana dated November 20 1913 invites children to write to Santa Claus with their Christmas wishes. It asks for the writer’s name parents name and age and requests a letter be sent to Santa Claus Montezuma Indiana. The letter promises to supply wishes as far as possible while noting there are many children.

Fred Moore returned from Matthews Missouri and will winter here or in the mountains. Mrs. Alice Porter of Danville Illinois came Friday for an extended visit with S. P. Hancock and family. R. W. Johnston made a business trip to Terre Haute Tuesday regarding bank matters. Tom Smith of Clinton visited Sunday for a few hours and has a position in a local store.
