A poem contemplates wealth and ideal conditions as sources of contentment yet acknowledges persistent longing. The speaker imagines a fixed income and youth, beauty, health, and praise but suspects desire would persist, with further longing for an unattainable “other something” beyond present reach.
Messrs Roy Aikman A B Simpson and Tom Dunlap hunted meat in the woods Tuesday. They captured six rabbits and one or two white owls. Simpson attempted to stop a wandering rabbit by voice then fired at it with a shotgun and crippled it. He later pursued and killed the rabbit with a pistol after failed attempts to capture it.
The Chicago Lyceum Players will present the first number of the Entertainment Course at the Opera House on November 22. Season tickets are available from J G Hirsbrunner at Citizens Bank First National Bank and Corner Drug Store. Reserve seats at the Corner Drug Store on Thursday November 20.

The Musket Ridge correspondent to the Dalton Citizen reports a local saloon vote stirred by a prominent citizen who argues against moral decline. He warns that without closing saloons, men will ignore women and indulge in fashionable dances and vulgarities, urging unity to resist.

Methodist Episcopal Church announces Sabbath School at 9 30 a m led by T A Welshans and preaching at 10 45 a m with evening services at 7 00 p m every other week Prayer Meeting Thursday at 7 30 p m led by A B Simpson pastor.

The Town council met in regular session and approved the monthly bills including a $600 electric light bond. They discussed buying extra ground for Oakland cemetery and constructing a rest house with two bids: $250 from B F Pitman and $274 from Albert Jerome. The decision was postponed to December. A meeting was scheduled tonight to fill the unexpired term of Fred Dickens in the 2nd ward.
The Marion Leader reports an engagement announced at Miss Seegar’s home on October 30. Ben VanLeer, formerly a resident with his parents Mr and Mrs Charles VanLeer, worked at Corner Drug Store. A party hosted many guests and the wedding is planned for this month.
J. S. Houchin and Omer Scott collided on the corner of Washington and Bridge streets Thursday. Their autos smashed lamps and fenders on Mr. Houchin's machine as they tried to pass on the same side of the street.
