A verse by Walt Mason extols Jim Peach who runs a corner store and keeps truthful advertising. It warns against liars in trade, noting readers trust honest ads and that false claims ruin reputation and business. The poem condemns deceitful campaigns and urges candor in commerce.
Mothers Day was observed at the Methodist church with a special program Sunday evening. The event featured songs and readings by children in fine form and the Montezuma Male Quartet performed two selections in their usual pleasing style.
Monday afternoon marked a busy scene in the old town with doctors merchants bakers and bankers scrubbing and oiling streets to cut dust while Tuesday morning's sprinkling cart kept the cleanup moving in the business district of the burg.
Ben Underwood purchases a Regal touring car at the Pressler garage after his barn fire destroyed his previous Regal. Mrs. Albert Jerome was taken to a hospital in Indianapolis at the start of the week for treatment.
Sunday a car driven by Mr. Davis, a Clinton sewing machine agent, overturned on a gravel stretch after crossing the Armiesburg bridge. Eight people were in the car. four adults and four children escaped serious harm, with Mr. Davis spraining his ankle and others bruised. The machine suffered about 150 dollars in damage.
Arthur Hann and Miss Leona Wilhite were married last Thursday in Newport. The couple plans to live in the house on the corner north of the pool and hopes for peace and happiness in married life.
Harry Jones of Billsdale sustained a foot injury from a shale pit accident at the tile works. His toe was nearly severed, later deemed beyond saving, and it was removed last Monday. He recovers well and walked on crutches this week.
BAD FALL Mr Bradshaw janitor at the M EK Church suffered a serious fall Sunday night while turning out lights. He toppled from a chair striking the chair back and lost consciousness. After leaving the church no one knew of the incident until he crawled to the door for help. He was taken to his room and a doctor called. No bones were broken but chest bruising was severe.
Miss Ethel Gordon and Mr John Underwood wed Tuesday at Rockville. The couple then had a generous supper at the bride’s parents home and are settling at their new home above Armiesburg bridge. Both well known in the area and highly regarded by friends.
The Pressler Auto agency sold a 1918 pattern model T Underslunge Regal touring car to George Underwood on Tuesday morning. The buyer will enjoy the car this summer and gains a new daughter in law the same day.

The editor and wife spent a day at E. A. Boyd’s farm near Waveland. Ed plans to plant corn this week, notes rain needed but says small grain looks fine. They visited a sugar camp with 210 maples for syrup and a paw paw plot yielding over 100 bushels. They enjoyed country ham and rich milk at dinner and hope to return soon.
We thank neighbors and friends for kindness during our mother’s illness and passing. Mr Mathas Myres and children express gratitude for support and prayers.
Mr and Mrs Fay Coleman of near Milligan were Sunday guests of Mrs Rawlings and Mr Rawlings, the latter's parents.
