Stolen horse and buggy tied to parole violation
George Scott of Mecca recently released on parole from Jeffersonville reformatory stole a horse and buggy from Dr. James S. Shaffer in Terre Haute. He attempted to sell the rig at Cheesewright Livery. Papers tied to Shaffer confirmed ownership. Deputies recovered the vehicle. Scott jailed for return to Jeffersonville for parole violation.

He was active in church and trusted in God.

Death of Mrs S J Armstrong at Rockville church services
Mrs. S J Armstrong died Monday evening at the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Berry just before would be 81. She had suffered a year from illness after breaking her hip. Funeral was at 2 pm Wednesday at the Christian church with Rev Freed of Rockville officiating. Interment followed at Oakland Cemetery.

Principal Edmund Arnold Killed on Big Four Right of Way
Edmund Arnold, 23, principal of Lena school, was killed when struck by a train on the Big Four right of way near Lena Thursday evening. He had taught in Lena after a summer apprenticeship as a barber and was mourned by many in Coloma, where his parents lived, with a large crowd and floral tributes at his burial.

Tragic Fire Claims Thomas Hill in Bloomingdale Home
Reported Tuesday morning that Thomas Hill a Black resident of Old Bloomingdale was burned to death in his residence Monday night. Fire crews found the structure near collapse and his charred remains were recovered from the ruins with cause of the blaze unknown.

Wallace Laverty and son visit hospital inquiry ends with TB ruled out
Wallace Laverty and his son Leon were in Indianapolis last Friday and Saturday at the Methodist hospital. Doctors used an X ray on Saturday producing three images that failed to reveal the cause of his troubles. The test showed no tuberculosis. Leon’s case remains baffling as doctors still are unsure of the ailment.
